Cheap windscreen replacement for your Opel Calibra?

One of the most sporty cars Opel has made is the Opel Calibra. If you are in possession of this coupé and you need a windscreen replacement of the Opel Calbira, this can be quite expensive. Fortunately, there is also a way to replace the windscreen cheaply and save a lot of money. Through us you can order an after market car window. These car windows are of the same high quality as the products sold by brand dealers, but at a significantly lower price. You can read how this all works in this article. Before we tell you more about cheap windscreen replacement of your Opel Calibra we dive into the special history of the Opel car brand and into the history of the Opel Calibra.

Opel has been automaker since 1899

The German Adam Opel
started the company Opel in 1862. Initially, it was not a matter of producing cars, because of course they did not exist at that time. The young Adam Opel trained as the son of a locksmith to succeed his father. During his studies in Paris, he was impressed by sewing machines. Back in Germany, with the help of his uncle, he was able to start up a company that produced sewing machines. Adam Opel's talent and insight helped him become successful quickly. After more than twenty years, he managed to sell around 18,000 sewing machines a year with his company, thus becoming the market leader throughout Germany.

Adam Opel's business talent also came to the fore when, under pressure from his five sons who loved cycling, he started to produce bicycles. Although Opel only started making and selling bicycles in 1886, within a few decades the company became the market leader in its own country in this area too. Despite his great success, Adam Opel did not want to focus on the production of cars, which were first produced at the end of the 19th century. When he died of typhoid at the age of 58, his widow and five sons took charge and under their leadership the company started to orientate itself towards the automotive sector. Only four years after the death of founder Adam Opel, the family company Opel came up with the first car
in 1899. Although this was not yet a success, the first steps had been taken and many more successful years were to come.

Opel in the modern age

After great successes in the period after the Second World War, the draught entered Opel at some point. After 1980, the company did not become as successful as it had been before. Market share fell sharply and several models were introduced unsuccessfully. In 1999, Opel last produced black figures for a full year. It is therefore not entirely surprising that General Motors, which has been the sole owner of the car company since 1931, wanted to get rid of the car brand. In 2017, the sale to the PSA Group was completed for an amount of approximately USD 2.2 billion. With the PSA Group, Opel will once again be part of a large company that brings together several car brands. Through the synergies between the Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Opel and Vauxhall car brands, the PSA Group hopes to get the German car brand back on its feet and turn it into its former glory.

The fast and streamlined Opel Calibra

The previously mentioned disappointing sales performance of Opel from the 1980s onwards was a major concern for General Motors. To try to clean up Opel's dusty image, the company came up with the successor to the Opel Manta: the Opel Calibra. This coupe appeared in 1989 and stands out because of its sporty appearance and very low air resistance. This air resistance is so low that it takes more than ten years to get a production car on the market that is more streamlined than the Opel Calibra. In addition, the relatively strong engine made it possible for the car to travel quite quickly, especially when an Opel Calibra with V6 became available in 1993.

With almost 240,000 copies sold between 1989 and 1997, it was a relatively successful model, especially as it was not Opel's cheapest car at all. Today's Opel Tigra can be seen as the successor to the Calibra, as it is the next coupé in Opel's production. If you still have the Opel Calibra in your possession, it may well be that you are looking for a cheaper way to replace the Opel Calibra windscreen. Since the car has been out of production for a while, many people expect it to be difficult to find the right windscreen. However, you can easily order these from us. With cars older than ten years it is not always possible to get insurance against glass damage. If the windscreen replacement is not insured you can count on our low prices.

How can the price for a car window be so low here?

We are often asked 'what are the costs of a car window?' but there is no unequivocal answer to that. This is because there is a lot of difference between the car windows for the different brands and models. The price also depends on any options and additional functionalities of the vehicle glass. Among other things, a heat-resistant coating or rain sensors, for example, ensure a higher price.

In all cases, however, it goes without saying that replacing a Opel Calibra windscreen via us is cheaper than at a brand dealer. This is because only brand dealers are initially allowed to sell car windows with a brand logo. Because of this monopoly, they can ask for more than is strictly necessary to replace the windscreen of an Opel Calibra. Through us you can order after market windscreens. This vehicle glass is made of exactly the same high quality and even comes from the same factory, but because there is no brand logo on it, non-brand dealers are also allowed to sell these car windows. This makes it a lot cheaper for you as you can see below.
