Windscreen replacement for your Peugeot 1007

The Peugeot 1007 is characterised by a good idea from the French car manufacturer, but with an ill-considered version that caused the car to fail. If the windscreen of your Peugeot 1007 needs to be replaced, you can easily find a new windscreen. From € 269 you already have a new window on the after market which will be placed by an expert within three working days.

But how is it possible that PSA
put an excellent idea on the table, but then only sold 130,000 copies of this model worldwide?

The idea behind the Peugeot 1007: a comfortable and spacious city car

When the Peugeot 1007 saw the light of day in 2004, it was immediately clear that the platform was shared with the Citroën C2, but also that PSA had taken a completely different approach. The sliding doors (electrically operated) made this a perfect city car where you could easily get in and out, even in the narrowest parking spaces. At the same time, PSA shone in the EuroNCAP
with five stars in the safety tests, a uniqueness in the small car segment. The five stars are mainly due to the four A-pillars in the cage construction, where visibility through the Peugeot 1007 windscreen was by no means obstructed.

The Peugeot 1007 was a striking model. Each Peugeot with four numbers (as opposed to the Peugeot 806 or the Peugeot 308 with only three digits in the type number) is a larger model, usually a crossover. With the Peugeot 1007, PSA chose to make a particularly spacious car, which is rare in this segment. For example, the body of the 1007 is 162 centimetres high and 166 centimetres wide, while the wheelbase of the car has remained modest at 373 centimetres.

This made the idea of PSA clear and good. A city car that can also be used by longer or wider people, or by people who like to sit in a car with more people. But unfortunately the positive ended when PSA went to work with the production.

What was the problem with the Peugeot 1007?

Electrically operated sliding doors sound like a great option, until there are problems with the electronics. And they came in large numbers, because the doors continued to malfunction. In addition, there was a 'small' problem that followed from applying this feature.

Did you choose a Peugeot 1007 with a 1.6 litre capacity? Then the empty weight of the car came to a generous 1300 kilos. This was partly due to the heavy electric motors that operate the sliding doors. By way of comparison: this is equal to the weight of a Volkswagen Passat Variant, which is far removed from the class of small cars.

That wouldn't be the only problem. The introduction price turned out to be very low for the segment in which this type had to be placed. At least € 13,000 for the cheapest version, without options such as navigation system, cruise control or glass roof. This is more than the introduction price of the Peugeot 206 with features. In fact, the price was close to the new price for a Peugeot 307. And that is in the C-segment.

The end of the Peugeot 1007

In 2009 PSA took the Peugeot 1007 out of production because the results were disappointing and the tide could not be turned. In Europe just 115.000 copies of this model were sold. Worldwide sales would remain limited to 130,000 models.

When should the windscreen of your Peugeot 1007 be replaced?

Car window damage is particularly annoying, but not every asterisk or crack is reason to replace the windscreen immediately. If we look at the guidelines for the car inspection, the windscreen of your Peugeot 1007 should be replaced when there is window damage in the driver's field of vision and:

  1. This is an asterisk with a diameter of more than 20 millimetres
  2. This is a branched crack

Isn't the glass damage that serious? Then you can just keep on driving your 1007.

Replacing a Peugeot 1007 windscreen: can I do it myself?

If you are a car mechanic or have a lot of experience with windscreen replacement, you can do it yourself. Don't have any experience replacing windscreens? Then a side window replacement is something you can certainly do when you have the time, space and tools. Replacing the windscreen is something you shouldn't do.

The windscreen is not placed in a mechanism, but must be correctly fitted to ensure the safety of the occupants and other road users. Is the windscreen fitted incorrectly? Then it can come loose if you suddenly have to brake hard and the windscreen may leak if it is not properly fitted.

Are you in a hurry to replace the windscreen of the Peugeot 1007? Even then you can just come to us. We can have the windscreen replaced within 24 hours. Would you like to install the windscreen yourself for a customer or your own car? Then you can also order the Peugeot windscreens without fitting and even without delivery in order to save costs.

What does a windscreen cost for the Peugeot 1007?

For € 269 you have a green tinted windscreen for the Peugeot 1007. The price of a Peugeot 1007 windscreen with coating is € 409. These prices are much lower than the price that a PSA dealer charges you when you want to have the windscreen replaced.

This has everything to do with the brand logo in the windscreen at the PSA dealer. This brand logo ensures that these windscreens can only be sold by brand dealers and that ensures a higher price. The price difference with our after market windows is so big that even second-hand car windows are often more expensive than our new car windows.

After market car windows do not have a brand logo. As a result, the price of the automotive glass is much lower. Furthermore, the windows are identical. They are produced in the same factories and are made in exactly the same way as the branded windows. This makes after market automotive glass the best choice if you want the best value for money.
