Windscreen replacement for your Peugeot 308

The Peugeot 308 is one of the strongest models in the Peugeot 300 series. The model has been sold well in Europe, but was unable to break the sales figures of the Peugeot 206 again. If the windscreen of your Peugeot 308 needs to be replaced, you can opt for after market glass. With us you will find a Peugeot 308 windscreen for only € 299.

Before we look further at the options for after market automotive glass, we will first look at this special model where Peugeot was forced to make an exception to the count in the type numbers. This is one of the few Peugeot models with a second generation, simply because no other solution was possible.

The Peugeot 308, a model in which the versions kept growing

In 2007 the Peugeot 308 was launched as a hatchback (Berline). This model was the successor of the Peugeot 307, but the Peugeot 307 CC remained in production until 2009 because the coupé cabriolet of the 308 was only introduced in that year. A year after the introduction of the 3- and 5-door hatchback, the station wagon (SW) of the 308 also followed, with which PSA
introduced a considerable number of versions of the Peugeot 308 to the market within three years.

What is particularly striking about the 308 is that PSA has opted for a wide range of engines and equipment levels. The first models were fitted with Prince petrol engines with 1.4 or 1.6 litre displacement. The diesel engines that have been added to the engine range are often called the better choice when looking for an occasion, because they have a longer life span. And in terms of equipment levels, you could choose exactly what you wanted, at an additional cost, of course, for the various options and choice of materials.

First generation of Stéphan Peureux

The first generation Peugeot 308 was designed by Stéphan Peureux, who clearly used a freer hand when setting up the shapes. The second generation of the Peugeot 308 is much more reserved and looks much more like its competitor: the Volkswagen Golf.

By the way, a lot of divergent models of the first generation have been made. Like the exceptional Peugeot RCZ which was announced as a concept car in 2007. This model was made between 2010 and 2015 and can only be found second-hand. No less than 270 hp for this 2-door coupé where sportiness has come first when designing the car.

A GTI version of the Peugeot 308 has also been developed. This 'sprint' in just under 8 seconds to a hundred kilometres per hour from a standstill. The impressive thing, however, can be found in the engine, which has a 1.6 THP with 200 hp and no less than 275 Nm of torque. Not nearly as impressive as the engines of the competitors, but for Peugeot still a very sporty model that the German Autobahn tells you about:

The second generation of the Peugeot 308? That's not possible at all, is it?

Peugeot had a clear idea for numbering the models and then made a mess of it. The second generation of the Peugeot 308 should have been the Peugeot 309 (the third number stands for the generation in the Peugeot model numbers). There was only one problem. The Peugeot 309 already existed and derived its type number from... nothing. It is just a Talbot model that had to be called Peugeot because PSA pulled the plug from Talbot.
Although this was not a spacious car and was actually a first generation, Peugeot stuck '309' on it.

That is why the Peugeot 308 is one of the few models with a second generation. A generation in which again a lot of different versions have been set up. The second generation has been designed more cautiously than the first generation and therefore looks more like the Peugeot 508 and the Peugeot 208 than the first generation of this type.

Was the Peugeot 308 a success?

With the 308, Peugeot has achieved excellent results in Europe. The 308 covers everything from the first to the second generation, with sporty cars, hatchback models and station wagons. The fact that more than 1,900,000 copies of this model were sold in Europe by 2019 is no surprise at all. The second hand market is also in full bloom with the many models that are offered and sold here.

Should the windscreen of your Peugeot 308 be replaced?

Did you find a second hand Peugeot 308 with window damage or did your current Peugeot 308 have windscreen damage? Then it's time to look at the extent and location of the window damage to determine whether the windscreen should be replaced immediately. Not all damage to the windscreen is rejected with the MOT.

When to replace a car window: in case of windscreen damage in the field of vision of the driver if:

  1. The asterisk is larger than 20 millimetres
  2. There is a branched crack

If the occasional car window damage or your current car is not within the guidelines of the national road traffic authority ("RDW" in the Netherlands), this is not an immediate reason to leave the car in the garage. You can replace the Peugeot 308 windscreen cheaper than you think.

Quality and cheap: after market windscreens for your Peugeot 308

Branded windows have a brand logo, which means that these can only be sold by the Peugeot dealer in the first instance. After market windscreens do not have a brand logo and are therefore much cheaper. The difference in price is so big that the after market windscreens for the Peugeot 308 are often cheaper than second-hand PSA branded windscreens!

However, the windscreens meet identical requirements and are often made in the same factories as the branded windscreens. The after market windscreens are thus guaranteed to offer the best value for money.

Can I replace the windscreen of my Peugeot 308 myself?

You can, but only if you have a lot of experience with it. Are you a car mechanic or garage owner looking for a new windscreen for a Peugeot 308? Then you can just order it from us without installation. If you wish, you can even pick up the car windows from us.

Do you have less experience with replacing car windows, but do you have the time and space? Then a side window replacement is an easy job, but better leave it to our certified fitting partners. A windscreen that is not properly fitted can come loose during abrupt braking and can leak.
