The Peugeot 306 was launched in 1993 and put matters in order after the special Peugeot 309. If the windscreen of your Peugeot 306 needs to be replaced, you can go to the after market where you can find a windscreen for your 306 for just over € 100. Given the sales success of this model, finding other parts on the after market is not an art either.
Before we look at the costs of a windscreen replacement for the Peugeot 306, we briefly look back at this model that had to compete with a German giant (and lost).
This model was put on the market to compete with the Volkswagen Golf, a battle that was already lost in the past. Peugeot therefore decided to completely redesign the interior, so that it would no longer look like the boring French car for which Peugeot had become famous. And this became clear in a special way in the commercials, in which Peugeot itself labels the 306 as 'competitor':
Did this work? Actually, it didn't. Looking off an interior is an excellent option, but if you choose cheaper materials, the effect will not materialize. In addition, many parts were borrowed from the Citroën ZX, which is built on the same platform. The Citroën Berlingo and the Peugeot Partner are also built on an identical platform as the Peugeot 306. This made the 306 far from unique.
The Peugeot 306 was initially marketed as a hatchback with three or five doors. Since Peugeot spent two years at the drawing board for the 306, it was not surprising that the station wagon (Break) and the cabriolet followed fairly quickly. Within a year there were several models on the market and Peugeot started to further develop the models in order to create a wider range. Peugeot had to, because sales successes didn't materialize and the chance is small that the Volkswagen Golf at one point felt Peugeot's breath in the neck.
In May 1997, Peugeot decided to throw a major facelift over the 306. The facelift is so comprehensive that the 'new' types could just as well have been called Peugeot 307. Special shapes, a more modern look and a refined finish were introduced. Work was also done on the choice of materials and features in the interior in order to make the Peugeot popular again.
Whether all this has been successful remains to be seen. The Peugeot 306 sold reasonably well, for example, more than 89,000 copies came on the road in the Netherlands. This makes this type a much bigger success than the Peugeot 309, but it doesn't come close to the success of the Peugeot 206. Sales abroad were also disappointing. Even after all the new versions, modifications and facelifts, the curtain fell on the Peugeot 306 in 2001. The Break was taken out of production in 2002 and the Cabriolet line was also terminated a year later.
The Peugeot 306 was succeeded by the Peugeot 307, which would be considerably more successful.
The Peugeot 306 windscreen must be replaced when it no longer complies with the national road traffic authority guidelines ('RDW' in the Netherlands). This means that an asterisk of more than 20 millimetres or a branched crack in the driver's field of vision will prevent you from driving the car.
Is the car window damage in the windscreen of limited magnitude? Then you don't have to replace the windscreen immediately. However, keep an eye on the damage, because due to large temperature differences the damage to the windscreen can increase, after which the car window replacement may suddenly be necessary.
Yes, you can do that by not choosing a Peugeot windscreen. These car windows have a brand logo that you don't really need at all. The brand logo only ensures that the prices of the windows are higher.
In addition, branded windows may only be sold by the PSA dealer.
If you choose second-hand car windows, you'll get rid of them all. If the second-hand car window also features a brand logo, there is a good chance that it will be more expensive than our new car windows. Our new windscreens are often cheaper than the second-hand car windows.
We only sell automotive glass without a brand logo. And how much does a car window for your Peugeot 306 cost if no brand logo is used? We have listed three popular options:
The above prices do not include delivery or installation. Do you want our certified fitting partners to install the windscreen at your home or work? Then you only pay € 209 for the first option (within the Netherlands) when we can reuse the old windscreen moulding.
You can replace the windscreen of your Peugeot 306 yourself if you have experience in replacing car windows and if you have sufficient time and space. If you are not a car mechanic and have little experience in windscreen replacement, then replacing a Peugeot 306 windscreen is not a job for you.
It has to be fitted carefully so that it doesn't leak and doesn't come off when braking abruptly. Our certified fitting partners can replace the windscreen on site or at home within three working days. In a hurry? For a small surcharge, we can arrange a mechanic and a new windscreen within 24 hours, so that you can get back on the road with your 306 as soon as possible.
Do you need the windscreen of your Peugeot 306 to be replaced, or do you have an occasion in mind with windscreen damage? Then you can find the best windscreens with us at the lowest prices.
