Cheap windscreen replacement for your Renault Kadjar

The Renault Kadjar was shown to the public for the first time in 2015. A few months later, sales of the compact SUV began, which would never be a real success for the French car manufacturer. By mid-2020, sales of the Renault Kadjar in Europe were only over 500,000 units, which is not a bad result given the SUV's market position. Do you have a Renault Kadjar and do you need a windscreen replacement? Then this is possible at a competitive price with after market automotive glass.

Before we look at the prices of new windscreens for the Renault Kadjar, we first take a closer look at this special model. And where does the name 'Kadjar' actually come from?

2015: the year of birth of the Renault Kadjar

The Renault Kadjar shares the platform (Renault-Nissan Common Module Family platform) with the Nissan Quashqai. This platform enables front-wheel and all-wheel drive. It is no secret that the Quashqai and Kadjar are related; over 60% (!) of the parts are the same with the first generations of the models. The Kadjar is richly equipped with driving aid systems, such as emergency braking assistance, lane departure warnings, a road sign recognition system, 360 degree sensors and a reversing camera.

The main difference between the Quashqai from Nissan and the Kadjar from Renault is the level of comfort. Renault's extra attention is reflected, for example, in the memory foam under the seat covers and the different positions in which the seats can be placed.

The name of this example is a contraction between 'quad' (a reference to four-wheel drive) and 'jar', where 'jar' would again be a reference to 'agile' and 'jaillir' (spontaneous creation). Renault couldn't make it that much harder.

There could be a reason why the statement seems contrived. Several sources already reported at the introduction that the name is derived from 'Qajar' (Kadjar in French spelling), a sheik family from Iran who in 1900 bought two Renaults in Belgium that would then be the first cars on Iranian soil. This explanation caused a lot of (political) controversy, after which Renault came up with the aforementioned explanation for the name.

We will leave you to decide which statement is more credible.

The facelift in 2018 for the Renault Kadjar

In 2018 the Kadjar was given a facelift, but the newer version was not put into production until 2019. By the way, nothing much changed. Four new engines (a collaboration between Daimler,
Nissan, Renault and Mitsubishi) were added to the range, the exterior was slightly modified and more space was designed in the interior for carrying things. The infotainment system was updated, as was the climate control system.

So the facelift was absolutely not spectacular. Also, the gap between the Kadjar and the Quashqai did not widen, so that sales figures remained around 'moderate'. The Renault Kadjar did not turn out to be the success the French hoped for, but they largely owe it to themselves as it definitely did not turn out to be the spectacle the Renault enthusiasts hoped for.

The Kadjar therefore did not become a sales success

The Renault Kadjar was not immediately in great demand in Europe. In the top year 2016, 130,090 units were sold, after which the sales figures immediately decreased. With the Kadjar, Renault did not even come close to the 1,300,000+ sales of the Renault Captur or the 780,000+ copies of the Espace. In September 2020, sales of the Kadjar stood at a moderate 501,308. By way of comparison, the Nissan Quashqai had already been sold more than 2,6000,000 times in Europe by that time!

When should you replace the windscreen of your Renault Kadjar?

Is there any damage to the windscreen of your Renault Kadjar? Then this does not always mean that the windscreen needs to be replaced. When should a windscreen be replaced according to the law? According to the guidelines of the RDW (the Dutch National Road Transport Agency), the windscreen should only be replaced when you have damage to the windscreen in the driver's field of vision, and this is:

  • A branched crack
  • A chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres

In all other cases, according to the legislator, you may continue to drive as normal. It is wise, however, to keep an eye on the damage to the windscreen, as the windscreen can tear further.

Is it a branched crack in the driver's field of vision or a chip with a diameter exceeding 20 millimetres? Then you have to replace the windscreen of your Renault Kadjar.

How much does a new Renault Kadjar windscreen cost?

A new car windscreen can be quite expensive. Especially when you choose a windscreen from your Renault dealer. After market windscreens for the Kadjar are much cheaper. This is due to the difference between the two types of windscreens. The windscreen that the dealer will install for you is provided with a brand logo. This logo ensures that only connected dealers are allowed to sell these windscreens.

After market windscreens do not have a brand logo. This is, together with the price, the only difference with Renault Kadjar windscreens at the dealer. The windscreens are made in the same factories, in the same way. The absence of the brand logo ensures that you will have a new windscreen for your Renault Kadjar for as little as € 399 when you choose the windscreens from our range.

Can I replace the Renault Kadjar windscreen myself?

No, you cannot replace the windscreen of your Kadjar yourself. Different driver assistance systems depend largely on the camera behind the windscreen. When the windscreen of the Renault Kadjar is replaced, the camera needs to be recalibrated. Otherwise, the driver assistance systems may fail or make the wrong decisions/suggestions.
