A low cost windscreen replacement for your Renault Captur

The Renault Captur is a mini-SUV and was shown to the public in 2013. The model became an instant success and has been one of the best-selling models in the segment since its inception. The big name behind the Captur is Julio Lozano, who designed the Captur under the direction of Laurens van den Acker. The Captur has already been sold more than 50,000 times in the Netherlands by mid-2020, making it one of Renault's most successful models. Do you have a Renault Captur and do you have windscreen damage? Then you can find new windscreens on the after market at low prices, without compromising on quality.

Before we look at cheap windscreen replacements for your Renault Captur, let's take a look at this special model from France, which became the sales success that Renault hoped for.

The first generation of the Renault Captur

Already in 2011 the concept model of the Captur was unveiled. The concept model had the same base as the Nissan Juke and was made entirely of carbon, with wing doors. However, the Renault Captur never became as spectacular as the concept model was. Renault took a number of characteristic features of the concept with it, but the Captur became more like the fourth generation of the Renault Clio (also the work of Laurens van den Acker)
than the concept itself. The wing doors never made it to the actual production of the model. The fact that the spectacular concept model eventually became a fairly 'solid' mini-SUV has caused a cool reaction among the car journalists at the presentation of the Captur in 2013, but this didn't harm the sales figures.

The first models came on the market in April 2013. The Captur is built on Renault's B platform. In 2017 the Captur was fitted with a facelift in which the lights at the front and rear were changed, along with some minor adjustments to the front bumper.

The second generation in 2019

After the sales success of the first generation, Renault decided to bring a second generation on the market as well. Built on the CMF-B platform, this model is larger than its predecessor. Only 15% of the first generation parts were used to build the second generation. Renault also decided to offer three different petrol engines for the Captur, with a plug-in hybrid on schedule. The diesel version is not available in some countries. The second generation went into production in 2019 and is also a mini-SUV with front-wheel drive, exactly like the first generation.

By the way, not much was changed to the design. A conscious choice, because Renault sold more than 1.5 million units of the first generation Renault Captur in 6 years time. Renault did choose another platform; the Clio platform, the biggest sales success. This gives the second generation considerably more space for occupants and luggage (536 litres, which is more than the Volvo V60!) Renault didn't shy away from a successful model either. The four-cylinder in the Captur was developed together with Mercedes. In addition, the E-Tech Plug-In technology was developed in collaboration with Nissan and Mitsubishi. Together the partners had 150 (!) patents applied for and were awarded for this technique.

Has the Renault Captur become a success for Renault?

With more than 1.5 million sales in the first six years, the Captur is without any doubt a resounding success, although of course it has never surpassed the Clio, which serves a much wider market. In Europe the Renault Captur was sold more than 1,300,000 times (end December 2019). This puts it much higher on the list than the Renault Espace and Renault 21, but it has to endure the Renault 5 and Renault 19.

When will the windscreen of the Renault Captur have to be replaced?

Car window damage is very annoying, but it isn't always necessary to replace the complete windscreen immediately. However, is there a chip with a diameter of more than 20 millimetres or a branched crack in the driver's field of vision? Then you may not drive your Captur because your car no longer complies with the MOT guidelines.

Do you need a car window replacement and is the price/quality ratio important to you? Then it is wise to take a look at car windows online before visiting the brand dealer. The difference is very big. A new windscreen for your Renault Captur is available from € 329.

How can these Renault Captur windscreens be so cheap?

On the after market you can find cheap car windows for every car model. These windscreens do not carry a brand logo, so there is no exclusivity (brand windows can only be sold by the brand dealers). Furthermore, the car windows are identical to the brand glass at your Renault dealer. The windscreens are even made in the same factories in exactly the same way. The brand logo is the only thing that explains the price difference; and since the brand logo does nothing for your Captur, after-market Renault windscreens are always the best choice in terms of value for money.

Optimising cost savings when replacing a Renault Captur windscreen

When we think of cutting costs, we quickly think of doing things ourselves. Replacing the windscreen of your Renault Captur is not a good option. A side window replacement can often be done by yourself when you're technically equipped. A windscreen also determines the stiffness of the bodywork and has to be placed carefully to prevent it from coming loose. That is why we only work with certified fitting partners who know exactly what they are doing. This means that the windscreen can also be replaced without any deductible, as they often waive the deductible.

Our fitting partners can replace the windscreen of your Renault Captur anywhere in the Netherlands and Belgium. Even in the parking lot of your workplace or in the driveway of your house. You do not need to come to a service point with your car. Practical when you are actually no longer allowed to drive because of the damage to your windscreen.
