Affordable windscreen replacement for your Kia Clarus

There are many models that have remained under the radar, and in many cases there is an obvious reason for that. Whether that applies to the Kia Clarus remains to be seen. This model never became a resounding success, but can easily be called a sincere effort from South Korea. We would like to tell you exactly how that is, after which we will let you know all about how cheap windscreen replacement is possible for this model and why after market automotive glass is the best choice when one of your car's windows needs replacing.

1995-2001: the production years of the Kia Clarus

When the Kia Clarus (called Kia Credos outside Europe) entered the market, the idea behind the model was immediately clear. Indeed, the Clarus was about 25% cheaper than the Ford Mondeo and Opel Vectra, even though these models were in the exact same market segment. However, Kia's family sedan was spartan with a sparse interior (which was at the same time spacious and comfortable) and fewer bells and whistles than its rivals, something that ensured that the competitors themselves will hardly have noticed the competition.

The Kia Clarus was based on the Mazda Capella (fifth generation) and was immediately marketed with a choice of four petrol engines (only one of which was from Kia, by the way).

In September 2000, the Kia Clarus was withdrawn from production and immediately succeeded by the Kia Magentis, a model produced in partnership with Mazda and Hyundai. It would not do much better than the Clarus on the Dutch market, incidentally.

Has the Kia Clarus been a success for the South Korean carmaker?

The total production figures of the Kia Clarus have never been made public, but it is easy to guess that it did not become a great success. Only one generation was made, the successor was ready before the last models were sold at dealerships and, in addition, the “highlight” in Europe was that at one point, more than 1,000 units of this model were registered in the UK at the same time. Not exactly something to be happy about for a carmaker looking to set its sights on Europe at the time, then.

Looking at the Netherlands, this picture is confirmed. Less than 700 units of the Kia Clarus were sold, which does not even measure up to models like the Kia Magentis, Kia Shuma or Kia EV9, and even those were setbacks for the market in the Netherlands.

We have looked up the original advertising for the Kia Clarus for the Dutch market for you. All we can say here is that such an advertisement would get the entire marketing team fired if it were shown now.

When should the windscreen of your Kia Clarus be replaced?

The rules around windscreen replacement are the same for all models, including the Kia Clarus. If the windscreen damage is in the driver's view and this is a chip with a diameter of 20 millimetres or more or a branched crack, the windscreen should be replaced. Your view of the road will then be too severely obstructed and incoming light may be reflected in unpredictable ways, which may even lead to glare. Your car will therefore no longer pass the inspection with this one, as it no longer meets the minimum requirements for safe driving.

In all other cases, you can choose to continue driving with the damaged windscreen, but be sure to check out the price of a new Kia Clarus windscreen first when you choose us.

What does a new Kia Clarus windscreen cost?

Because you already have a new Kia Clarus windscreen for just €349 (plus €50 for a new windscreen moulding). That includes VAT, which makes us significantly cheaper than your Kia dealer, even though the windscreens are identical except for one small point. That is the brand logo incorporated into the original windscreens, which makes them exclusive, which mainly means that you pay considerably more for this.

After market automotive glass has the best value for money. This is clear from the fact that our new windscreens are often still cheaper than second-hand automotive glass, which does make the choice very easy.

Can you replace the windscreen of your Kia Clarus yourself?

It is unwise to start replacing your windscreen yourself, unless you are experienced in this, have the right knowledge, as well as the tools needed for this. Replacing a side window can often be done perfectly by yourself if you are technically inclined, but a small mistake when replacing the windscreen could cause damage to the new windscreen or the car, adding to the costs. To make things easier for you, we work with professional fitting partners who replace windscreens on-site. So they will also come to your car and you can be back on the streets with an intact, clean windscreen in no time.

Are you an expert in car window replacement yourself or do you know someone who would like to replace your windscreen for you? Then you can also come to us for a new Kia Clarus windscreen excluding fitting. You easily indicate this during the ordering process.
