Cheap windscreen replacement for your Volvo S90/Volvo V90

Although the Volvo S90 was immediately launched in three different versions, this model was never intended for the general public. The larger, more luxurious S90 is a more exclusive model in which Volvo wanted to show what it was capable of in the luxury segment and set a new stage in the competition with the German automakers in particular. Only a few thousand models were sold in the Netherlands partly for this reason, but the Volvo V90 still pulled sales numbers reasonably out of the mire. Do you own one of the S90 models or do you have a Volvo V90 and need to replace the windscreen of your car? Then you can find new windscreens from €299 with us.

Before we go into further detail about our cheap automotive glass with the best quality, we first put the limelight on this particular Swedish model to see exactly what Volvo's idea was when developing and producing the Volvo S90 and the V90, the estate variant of the model.

The Volvo S90 since 2016

In 2015, the new Volvo S90 was first shown to the public and the reception was good. With the S90, Volvo was clearly aiming for a larger, more luxurious car that would be placed in a higher market segment. When the first models arrived at dealerships in 2017, it appeared that Volvo had immediately made several versions available. However, the longer wheelbase models would mainly be shipped to China, and the shorter wheelbases were reserved for America and Europe. This did not last long, as in 2018 Volvo decided to ship the Volvo S90L (Long Wheelbase) to America, where there was demand for even larger cars.

Two months after the introduction of the S90, Volvo also showed the Volvo V90, the estate version that would go into production alongside the Volvo S90. Although this model received less attention, it would be a bigger sales success for the Swedes than the actual S90.

The S90 replaced the Volvo S80, but was not a successor as this was clearly a completely new model. It was notable for being the first luxury Volvo to be placed on the market exclusively with 4-cylinder engines at launch.

The relative success of the Volvo S90 and its rescue by the Volvo V90

Volvo decided fairly early on that it wanted to compete with the big established brands and therefore developed numerous models for the larger market, such as the Volvo 440, Volvo V70 and the Volvo S40, all of which became resounding successes. However, the big German carmakers still controlled most of the upper market segment. The S90 (along with the V90) was supposed to change that. The Volvo S90 is therefore regularly (rightly) compared to models like the Audi A6, the Jaguar XF and the Mercedes-Benz W213. Volvo itself added some scoops to this by emphasising that a Volvo doesn't need so many buttons and mainly capitalises on ease of use.

If you want to know more about the comparisons or how well Volvo actually succeeded in developing and making the Volvo S90, the clip below from AutoWeek is well worth watching. However, the clip is almost 7 minutes long:

A sales success the S90 is not yet, but it won't be. At the time of writing, the sales counter stands at just over 2,000 models. If, for a fuller picture, we also include the sales numbers of the Volvo V90, the counter is well over 10,000 units in the Netherlands. That means total sales of the S90 plus V90 still make the type one of the straggler of Volvo's top 20 best-selling models in the Netherlands.

When should the Volvo S90/V90 windscreen be replaced?

If you are familiar with the prices of car windows, then windscreen damage is a shock every time. Nevertheless, the windscreen by no means needs to be replaced in all cases of damage. You only need a new windscreen if the damage is in the driver's field of vision and this is a chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres or it is a branched crack. Is this not the case? Then you can simply continue driving with the damage in your windscreen. However, it is wise to check the damage regularly.

How can we offer our Volvo S90 and Volvo V90 windscreens so cheaply?

We wrote earlier that you can find new windscreens for your Volvo S90/V90 from €299 with us. That's much cheaper than the windscreens found at your Volvo dealer, and we're happy to explain how that's possible. Your dealer will only fit original windscreens in your Volvo S90/V90, i.e. exclusive windscreens with a brand logo (which of course does nothing for the automotive glass itself).

Our automotive glass is made in the same factories and the quality of the windows is identical to that of your dealer. However, because our automotive glass has no brand logo, we can offer it much cheaper. In many cases, our new windscreens for the Volvo S90 and Volvo V90 are even cheaper than the original windows offered as used windscreens for the Volvo models.

Is replacing your Volvo V90/S90 windscreen yourself a good idea?

These days, you can find an online manual or YouTube instruction video for any job or repair. If this was your first idea when you were thinking of cheap windscreen replacement, we strongly discourage you from getting to work on the windscreen of your Volvo S90 or V90 yourself. Especially when replacing the (large and heavy) windscreens, a lot can go wrong and you can damage yourself, your car and/or other belongings around you. Also, incorrect installation of the new windscreen can cause new problems.

You do not have to work on the windscreen of your Volvo S90/V90 yourself either. This is because we like to relieve you of all worries, which is why we work together with certified fitting partners who replace windscreens on location throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. When your car is easily accessible, it does not matter whether you are in a shopping centre, at work or in bed.
