There is no model that has been as important to Skoda as the Octavia. Admittedly, the Skoda Favorit and Skoda Felicia will hang framed on the wall in the headquarters, but it was the Octavia that would be the breakthrough for the (now actually not entirely) Czech company that could use it to compete with success models from major car manufacturers.
Do you have a Skoda Octavia whose windscreen needs replacing? Then we will be happy to surprise you with the exceptionally low price of our new windscreens for your car. Before we do, let's take a look together at the model that managed to lure many a car buyer to the dealerships.
In November 1996, the first Skoda Octavia rolled out of the factory (1997 model year) and in most Western European countries sales of this model did not start until 1998. It was soon clear how great this model was going to be, as the Octavia was mentioned in the same breath as the Opel Vectra and the Ford Mondeo. At the same time, this was not a spectacular model, it was rather a logical sequel to the release of the Skoda Felicia a few years earlier, which in turn was a logical sequel to the Skoda Favorit.
What was notable, however, was that the Skoda Octavia became a resounding success in India, where the model's fuel-efficient engines and robustness made it a firm favourite. Incidentally, this would continue to be the case after the first generation.
The first generation received a facelift, which would mainly affect the car's interior but otherwise raised fairly little dust.
In 2004 followed the second generation of this model, which would now be placed on the A5 platform from Volkswagen, a platform you may be familiar with from models such as the Volkswagen Golf (gen. 5), Seat Léon (gen. 2), Volkswagen Jetta (gen. 5) and the Audi A3 (gen. 2). The designers went back to the drawing board and, under the leadership of Peter Wouda and Thomas Ingenlath, the second generation came about, with a completely new range of engines and the model was also immediately raised in height to reduce the risk of damage to the car.
This generation received a facelift in 2009, which mainly addressed the bumper and headlights, as well as some of the gearboxes, radio and steering wheel, along with some other interior modifications for certain trim levels of the model.
In 2013, the third generation arrived on the market, which had already been spotted by journalists a year earlier. The new model was slightly taller and longer than its predecessor, but at the same time more than 100 kilograms lighter and with more luggage space than the Volkswagen Passat. This new Octavia was fitted with sensors in the front bumper to implement more ADAS systems, such as a warning in case an object or person comes too close to the front bumper (or in other words, a collision and crash prevention system). The model was also fitted with features such as traffic sign recognition and other pioneering gadgets, such as a special holder for parking tickets.
The third generation, like its two predecessors, became a resounding success. Back in 2016, Skoda announced that the one millionth copy of the third generation had rolled out of the factory.
In 2017, this generation would get another facelift, especially the headlights (a recurring theme in Skoda facelifts). It also came with a special version for the Chinese market, where the facelift would make the Octavia look a lot like the Skoda Superb.
In 2019, the fourth generation was announced, which could not be delivered until mid-2020. Once again, Skoda chose to add numerous technological features to the model, making the fourth generation even more luxurious than the third generation, thanks in part to the HUD-display (head-up display), wireless charging options for phones, a joystick as a gear lever and a system that checks if other vehicles are approaching when you want to open the car door. At the time of writing, the fourth generation of the Skoda Octavia is still in production and has not yet had a facelift. Should that come, we already fear for the model's headlights.
Already in 2016, more than 5 million copies of the Skoda Octavia had been made and almost half of every new Skoda was an Octavia, which clearly shows how important this model has been for the Czech-German company.
In terms of advertisements, there is a lot to watch, but the one below is perhaps a gem in the world of car ads. Especially since this advert initially seems childish and particularly aimless, and then suddenly takes a strong twist that puts the Octavia in the spotlight as the family car for every family.
Windscreen damage can cause dangerous situations because a chip or crack can be distracting while driving and because incoming light can be reflected unpredictably by the car window damage. But in far from all cases, the windscreen actually needs to be replaced. In fact, there are only two cases where the Skoda Octavia windscreen needs replacement. Is there a chip in the windscreen with a diameter of at least 2 centimetres or is it a branched crack and is the damage in the driver's field of vision? Then the Skoda Octavia windscreen needs to be replaced. Your car with this damage will therefore (obviously) be rejected at the next MOT.
You already have a new Skoda Octavia windscreen for €299. Keep in mind, however, that the range of Skoda Octavia windscreens on the page is large and it is important that you choose the one that suits your car and preferences. All our Skoda Octavia windscreens are significantly cheaper than the ones the Skoda dealer has ready for you, which is noteworthy as the quality is identical. However, original windscreens come with a brand logo that provides an exclusive character that you will see reflected in the price tag.
This makes our replacement car windows the best choice when you want to save on price but not on quality. To illustrate, our automotive glass is so cheap that our new windscreens are often still cheaper than second-hand automotive glass.
