Cheap windscreen replacement for the Skoda Felicia

If the Skoda Favorit can be called an important model for the car manufacturer, the Skoda Felicia is synonymous with a complete revolution in the Czech Republic. With this model, Skoda managed to completely erase its bad reputation and people in Western Europe flocked to the dealerships to buy a reliable, modern car. However, this was not solely down to the Czechs themselves, but more on that. If you have a Felicia and need a windscreen replacement, then you have come to the right place. Before we look at our cheap car windows, let's take a look at this particular model that managed to put Skoda on the map worldwide.

1994-2001: the production of the legendary model

In 1994, the Skoda Felicia was launched, a special car because it was the last model to be built on a Skoda platform as well as the first model to roll out of the factories after the takeover by Volkswagen. The basis of the Felicia was the Skoda Favorit, but the Czechs made numerous modifications to make it a modern, fresh and above all reliable model. This is reflected, among other things, in the completely new front end and the many Volkswagen engines with which the models were placed at dealerships.

The Felicia was released as a hatchback (1994), combi (1995) and even as a pick-up (mid-1995). Incidentally, the pick-up was sold in some countries under a different name: the Volkswagen Caddy Pickup. Skoda enthusiasts know that, incidentally, this was not the first time Skoda called a model “Felicia”: in the 1960s, in fact, two-seater sports cars were marketed under the same name. Incidentally, the models have nothing in common, which makes it an unusual choice.

The Felicia was a big step for Skoda. For instance, the carmaker used diesel engines for the first time and great attention was paid to safety, reflected in the implementation of ABS, safer seatbelts and more airbags.

The huge importance of the Felicia for Skoda as a car brand

Skoda took a big step forward with the Skoda Favorit, the model that was supposed to close the huge gap between Skoda and renowned car manufacturers (a list that Skoda had nothing to enter at the time). The Favorit was a relative success and it would be the Felicia that ensured Skoda would go from “Eastern bloc car manufacturer” to “top brand”. Skoda did so under the Volkswagen banner, as the Germans had taken over the Czech state-owned company in the meantime.

This is evident in Britain, where Top Gear magazine conducted a survey on readers' satisfaction with their cars. In April 1998, the Felicia received an excellent score here, something unthinkable with all its predecessors. With the Felicia, Skoda grew from a producer of ‘cheap but very mediocre car models’ to a car manufacturer that could compete with the big names that dominated the Western European market.

The success of the Skoda Felicia expressed in sales figures

That all sounds very good, but can that success be seen in absolute numbers? Yes indeed, because although the production span of the Skoda Felicia was downright limited (around 7 years), almost 1.5 million units rolled out of the factories. More than 75,000 were sold in the UK, which was a huge achievement for Skoda. In the Netherlands, the Felicia didn't catch on so much, selling just over 5,500 units
with which it hangs at the bottom of the list of best-selling Skoda models in the Netherlands, failing to score even better than the Skoda Favorit (its own predecessor), the Skoda Scala or the Skoda Rapid.

When it comes to making commercials, the geniuses at Skoda let it slip for a while, although you can see very clearly below that the team knows what the strengths of the model are and show them clearly:

When should the Skoda Felicia windscreen be replaced?

Do you have a Skoda Felicia with windscreen damage or are you looking at a used car whose windscreen is damaged? Then it is important to know when your car's windscreen needs to be replaced. In most cases, you can simply continue driving with damage. However, this is not the case if it is a branched crack or a chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres and the damage is in the driver's field of vision. Your car will then not pass the MOT and this damage can cause dangerous situations, as it is distracting and can reflect incoming light in unpredictable ways. This means you could be blinded while driving.

What does a new windscreen for the Skoda Felicia cost?

You already have a new Skoda Felicia windscreen for €249 and that includes VAT. Our replacement Skoda windscreens are significantly cheaper than the original ones, while the quality of the automotive glass is identical. The difference in price lies in the brand logo incorporated in the original windows. Although this logo does nothing for the window itself, it does make for a higher price that ultimately has to be paid by the customer. You will not find this brand logo with us and that means you can always find auto glass with the best value for money with us, something we are proud of.
