Many car models have long production spans and get numerous generations and updates before the model disappears from production because space has to be made for a successor. This is not the case for the Kia Joice. This model was only in production for a couple of years and was soon replaced by a completely different model to save market share. It did, however, sell more than 2,000 units in the Netherlands. If you have a Kia Joice whose windscreen needs replacing, then you have come to the right place. The Kia Joice entered the market in 1999 and was a collaboration with Hyundai, which turned it into the Hyundai Santamo. The 7-seater MPV was a standout for its angular design, something that did not really change after the facelift in 2001, which was implemented only for the European market. The 2.0-litre engine produced 120 to 139 hp, which also made it a relatively slow MPV (when fully loaded).
When the Kia Joice was withdrawn from production in 2002, the Kia Carens was designated as its successor. This means that no direct successor to the Joice was developed, as the Carens was also launched in 1999, which means that the second generation of this model should then be the successor to the Joice.
So the Kia Joice did not get a second generation and was taken out of production fairly early, as sales figures were disappointing. This is not unprecedented for Kia in these years, as the carmaker thought it could score with safety and reliability in markets outside Asia, which did not work as the models were simply too bland and solid to win over young car buyers (one of the biggest markets for price-takers).
So the Kia Joice disappeared from production fairly quickly because sales figures were disappointing. In the Netherlands, however, we see a different picture. In the Netherlands, MPV models by definition score worse and it took a long time before Kia really managed to score as a car manufacturer, but the Kia Joice became reasonably successful despite this. Indeed, more than 2,200 units were sold in this country, putting it nowhere near the bottom on Kia's list of best-selling models in the Netherlands. Indeed, it comes relatively close to models like the Kia Carnival and Kia Sephia, just like the Kia XCeed and the Kia Cerato, not a bad score.
Windscreen damage is always annoying, as damage in the windscreen is something you always see while driving.
