The Kia Carnival has not become a popular model in Europe, but quite a few have been sold in the United States and South Korea, making this a success for Kia after all. In the Netherlands, just over 2,000 Carnivals drove away from dealers. If you have one of these and need to replace the windscreen, you can find cheap car windows without compromising on quality or ease of ordering. Before we tell you how surprisingly affordable a new Kia Carnival windscreen is, let's take a closer look at this model.
The first generation of the Kia Carnival was not an international model, it was made for a specific market, including in partnership with Dongfeng Yueda (China) and Naza Ria (Malaysia). The Carnival was a minivan, or small bus, that would initially be marketed only with a smaller wheelbase.
While the first generation would come to other parts of the world (also as Kia Sedona, for the US market), in Europe the model was only available with Rover engines, namely the 2.5-litre KV6 and the 2.9-litre turbo diesel. Two more engines were added in 2001. It was not until the second generation that Kia would pay more attention to markets outside Asia, something that was also reflected in the sales figures of the first generation.
With the second generation in 2005, Kia opted to equip the Carnival and Sedona directly with either a short or a long wheelbase. The shorter-wheelbase models of the second generation shared the platform with the Kia Magentis and were developed specifically for the European market, where the Carnival falls in the larger MPV segment. The longer wheelbase did not come to Europe as there was less demand for such models in this market.
Although the second-generation Kia Carnival was well-equipped with numerous features, such as ABS, Isofix, numerous assistance systems, height-adjustable steering wheel and a 2+3+2 version (for the seats), its success in Europe failed to materialise.
In September 2012, the Kia Carnival disappeared from European dealerships. Not because they were all sold, but because there was hardly any enthusiasm for the model. This ensured that the third generation of 2014 and the fourth generation of 2020 never came to Europe.
This is notable because in the rest of the world, the Carnival did well. Sales were good in Mexico, India, Australia and even Vietnam. The model also scored well in the United States, especially after Kia decided to make more versions (L, LX, EX, SX and Limited, increasing in luxury).
The Kia Carnival disappeared from Europe in 2012 because sales results were disappointing and the carmaker no longer saw any use for it. Yet the Carnival did not become a flop for Kia. Quite the contrary, as this model would sell extremely well in the United States and in South Korea itself. With several years in which total sales were around 100,000, this is a fine result for Kia.
As the Carnival was pulled out of Europe fairly early on, it will not surprise you that few units were sold in the Netherlands. The counter remains just under 2,500, putting it up against the Kia Sephia and the Kia Joice, not really something to be happy about.
It is no secret that Kia is paying close attention to the market in India, as it is growing and Kia already has a reasonable market share here with good brand awareness. Therefore, we have chosen to show below the advertisement for the Kia Carnival for India, partly because it was again well received.
Car windscreen damage is annoying and at the same time, the risk of windscreen damage is always present when you use your car regularly. Since the windscreen is made of laminated glass (two layers of glass with a layer of PVB film in between), the glass never completely disintegrates when damaged, which means that in many cases you can continue driving with a damaged windscreen. That does not apply when the windscreen damage is in the driver's direct field of vision and this is a branched crack or a chip with a diameter of 2 centimetres or more.
In these cases, the windscreen needs to be replaced as it too severely obstructs the view of the road and incoming light can be reflected unpredictably, which can cause glare. Therefore, with this windscreen damage, the car will not pass the next MOT.
Fortunately, you can already have a new Kia Carnival windscreen for just €449 and this includes VAT. Our replacement windscreens are much cheaper than original automotive glass, while their quality is identical. The price difference is due to the brand logo incorporated in Kia windscreens, which makes them exclusive. Since we do not use unnecessary brand logos, the price of our automotive glass is significantly cheaper. The difference is so great that you can find new Kia Carnival windscreens with us that are cheaper than most original used car windows. That means you can always count on the best value for money with us when you are looking for car windows.
