A great success the Kia Carens never became, but chances are the carmaker looks back with a smile at its sales results over the years. This has also become another special model, as the fourth generation completely breaks with its predecessors and completely shifted Kia's focus, without directly resulting in a new model for the market. More than 12,000 units of the Kia Carens have been sold in the Netherlands. If you have one and need the windscreen replaced, you can come to us for the best car windows at the lowest price. But first, let's take a look at the Carens and what is special about the fourth generation.
In 1999, the Kia Carens entered the market (RS version), which was placed on the exact same platform as the Kia Sephia. As this was a compact MPV with a very angular look, it was not really an exciting model for which car buyers flocked to the dealers. The 2002 facelift did little to change this, as the rear end became an oddity, although it was now clear that Kia would continue developing the model.
That was easy to see in 2006 when the second generation hit the market, a car with more modern styling and much sportier looks. Its success was soon apparent in the United States, where more than 20,000 units per year were sold in the first two years of production, although the Kia Carens would subsequently drop out of the lists of good-selling car models.
Incidentally, the model was not sold as a Carens in the US. There, it was given the name Kia Rondo.
The third generation would not come to the US at all (only to Canada), as sales successes failed to materialise. In Europe and the rest of the world, this generation entered the market in 2013, and once again Kia opted for a sleeker design. It also removed the V6 from the engine range and replaced it with the 2.0-litre with 164 hp.
In 2016 came a major update, which would make the Carens look a lot sportier thanks to the new front end, new lights and wheels (although these remained comparatively small). This facelift caused a brief upturn in sales numbers.
With the fourth generation, Kia completely changed tack. First of all, the focus on the European market now disappeared as well (probably because its market share remained too small). Kia was going to focus on India and other emerging markets, where Kia wanted to make itself broad immediately. The Carens was no longer a compact MPV, but a compact crossover based on the Kia Seltos/Hyundai Creta.
Since Kia's focus was entirely on India for this generation, it only became a success in India, but with more than 62,000 units sold in the first year, Kia will not mourn that.
Below, we have shared with you an advertisement aired in India, the market where Kia would be putting its full attention with the Carens. The Carens is touted here as ‘an experience from a completely different world’, but it is mainly the low price that makes Indians happy in the comments.
Windscreen damage can create dangerous situations, as visibility on the road is obstructed, damage in the windscreen distracts while driving and incoming light is reflected unpredictably. However, it is not the case that in all cases of windscreen damage, the windscreen needs to be replaced on your Kia Carens. On the contrary, there are only two cases where you should not continue driving with a damaged windscreen. These are windscreen damage in the driver's field of vision involving a branched crack or a chip with a diameter of 20 millimetres or more.
In all other cases, you may continue driving with the damaged window, although we especially ask you to take a look at the price of our new windscreens below first, as it is probably much lower than you think right now.
In fact, you already have a new Kia Carens windscreen for just €349 and that includes VAT. There is still the cost of a windscreen rubber or windscreen moulding, but you can easily add these to your order. This makes us much cheaper than the Kia dealer selling original automotive glass. The quality of our replacement car windows is identical to this original automotive glass, but because we do not use a brand logo, our car windows are not exclusive, which means the price is much lower.
So if you want to order automotive glass with the best value for money, you have come to the right place. Our windscreens are so cheap that in many cases the price is even lower than second-hand automotive glass.
