Cheap windscreen replacement for your Skoda Citigo

The Skoda Citigo is a sister to the Volkswagen Up and has become a success number for Skoda, which has marketed the city car in numerous countries, including the Netherlands. Do you own a Skoda Citigo and need a windscreen replacement? Then you have come to the right place, because we have car windows ready for you with the best value for money so that you never pay too much and still choose a windscreen that is just as good as the original Skoda Citigo windscreen.

Before we tell you all about our cheap automotive glass, let's look together at this model of Skoda that became a success despite being a rebadged model.

2011: the birth of the Skoda Citigo as a badge model

The Skoda Citigo saw the light of day in 2011, but it was not a unique model. In fact, it was a rebadge
of the Volkswagen Up, just like the Seat Mii that arrived at dealerships during the same period. Incidentally, the Citigo did not hit the market everywhere that year. On the contrary, as the model was launched exclusively in the Czech Republic at the end of 2011, the other European countries had to wait until summer 2012. However, plans to also market the Skoda Citigo in Russia and Eastern European countries were scrapped completely as the model would be too small to be a success in this region.

The model was given a facelift in 2017, but would remain very similar to the Volkswagen Up, with some minor tweaks to the front and rear of the car. The Citigo was phased out of production in 2020, with the Seat Mii following a year later.

Skoda Citigo electric

Before the model would disappear completely, Skoda launched the Citigo-e iV, an all-electric car with a 36.8 kWh battery and a WLTP range of 270 kilometres. This would be the model that became the standard in 2019 (models with the combustion engines disappeared completely) and at the same time was Skoda's first all-electric car. The Citigo-e iV has a type 2 (Mennekes) connection and charges optimally at 11 kW (16A on 3 phases). At this charging rate, the battery of the Citigo is fully charged in 5.5 hours.

How successful has the Skoda Citigo become?

When it comes to the sales success of a model, there are several ways to look at it. With more than 16,000 sales
in the Netherlands, the Citigo has been a success, easily trailing models like the Skoda Karoq, Skoda Kamiq and the Skoda Yeti. But those sales figures again look very mediocre when put next to the figures of the Volkswagen Up, as this model was sold almost 100,000 times in the Netherlands.

As far as we are concerned, at least, the marketing campaign has not been a success, as it almost hurts to watch after the advert below (play at your own risk).

When should the windscreen of the Skoda Citigo be replaced?

There are numerous ways the windscreen of your Citigo can be damaged, but in far from all cases, the windscreen actually needs to be replaced. Indeed, in most cases, you can simply continue driving with windscreen damage. This is not the case when the damage is in the driver's field of vision and this is a branched crack, or a chip with a diameter of 2 centimetres or more. Your car will also be rejected at the next MOT in these cases, because the window damage carries too much risk. The chip or crack may be distracting while driving and incoming light may be reflected in an unpredictable way, blinding you. In all other cases, you decide whether you want to replace the windscreen of your Skoda Citigo (or have it replaced).

What does a new Skoda Citigo windscreen cost?

You already have a new Skoda Citigo windscreen for €299. It is also suitable for the Volkswagen Up and the Seat Mii, as these are virtually the same models, but with a different name. Our automotive glass is significantly cheaper than the windscreens your Skoda dealer will sell you, while the quality of the automotive glass is identical. The price difference is purely in the brand logo incorporated in the original windscreens, which creates an exclusive character, which is “naturally” included in the price.

We choose quality, but not the brand logo and that directly means that you can always find windscreens with the best value for money with us. Our Skoda Citigo windscreens are so competitively priced that they are often still cheaper than second-hand car windows for this model. Of course, this also applies to windscreens for other Skoda models as well as those of other car makes, which is also directly why more and more people are opting for after market car windscreens in case of windscreen damage.

Can you replace the windscreen of your Skoda Citigo yourself?

Not sure if you can replace the windscreen of your Skoda Citigo yourself? Then we strongly advise you not to even start. This is because replacing a windscreen is a job for the professional, who will ensure that the car and the new windscreen are not damaged during the process. To make this as easy as possible, we collaborate with professional fitting partners who replace car windows on-site throughout the Netherlands and Belgium.

Are you a professional yourself or do you know someone who can replace the Citigo windscreen for you? Then you can of course also come to us for new car windows excluding fitting. Some customers even choose to collect their order from us (by appointment only). This can be especially interesting if you want to purchase several car windows at the same time.
