The Kia Magentis is a distinctive model, which is mainly due to the different names for the generations and different names for the markets where the model was offered. When it comes to the Magentis, it is mainly about those sold in Europe and Canada between 2002 and 2010. If you have one and need to replace the windscreen, you can find affordable car windows without compromising on quality. Before we look at this further, let's take a quick look back at the history of the Magentis.
The history of the Kia Magentis begins in 2002. The model itself was introduced two years earlier as the Kia K5/Kia Optima, but it was only when it came to Europe and Canada that it was renamed the Kia Magentis. It was by no means a unique model, by the way; the Kia Magentis is a Hyundai Sonata with a new label and some minor exterior and equipment tweaks.
When the second generation hit the market, the confusion really began. Indeed, this generation was called Kia Magentis worldwide, except in the US, Malaysia and South Korea. With this generation, the model moved further away from the Hyundai, partly because it was placed on its own MG platform.
In 2008, a facelift for the model came out, with a new front end design and different rear lights. The interior was revamped and a new engine was added to the range, and in some markets the Kia Magentis was fitted with satellite navigation.
Eventually, Kia saw the sales figures continue to drop and the carmaker decided to give the model a complete makeover. You can read more about this on our page about the Kia Optima.
Kia often makes it difficult with names, but with this model it has become special. In fact, this is the Kia Optima, which came to Europe two years after its introduction and was given a completely different name there, namely the Kia Magentis. With the second generation, the models were then called Kia Magentis in most countries, but with the third generation, this was changed again and the “Magentis” label disappeared completely, as Kia decided to make it the Kia Optima (although this was not a new model).
Incidentally, the models named Kia K5 and Kia Lotze never came to Europe.
With all the different names, it can be difficult to estimate the sales success, but in the case of the Magentis, it is not too bad because we can look at the European market for all models from 2002 to 2010. Then we immediately see that it did not become a success, partly because this type of car lost a huge amount of market share during the production years. Sales figures in the Netherlands were also very disappointing, with just over 800 units sold, putting this model very low in the list of Kia's best-selling models in the Netherlands.
And if we then look for the original advertisements for the European Kia Magentis, we wonder if Kia itself believed in it.
It could just happen that you find your Magentis in the car park with a damaged windscreen, or that a pebble splashes out from under the tyre of the car in front of you and lands against your windscreen, leaving a big chip there. Windscreen damage is annoying, but the windscreen does not need to be replaced in nearly all cases. This is only the case when the damage is in the driver's field of vision and this is a branched crack, or a chip with a diameter of 2 centimetres or more. Therefore, with this window damage, your Kia Magentis will be rejected during the next MOT.
In all other cases, you can choose to continue driving with the damaged window. However, please take a look at the price of a new Kia Magentis windscreen below first, because with us it is much cheaper than you might think right now.
Because you already have a new Kia Magentis windscreen for just €349 (also suitable for the Hyundai Sonata). That's considerably cheaper than a new original windscreen, which is remarkable because the quality of the automotive glass is identical. The windows are often even made in the same factories. The price difference has to do with the brand logo embedded in the original car windows. This ensures an exclusive character and thus a much higher price. The difference in price is so great that our new car windows are usually still cheaper than used automotive glass.
So if you want to opt for a cheap windscreen without compromising on quality, you have come to the right place.
We strongly advise our customers not to go ahead with windscreen replacement themselves. This is because this is a job that should be done by a specialist to avoid damage to the new windscreen and the car, and to ensure that the new windscreen is fitted correctly. To make it easy for you, we work with professional fitting partners who replace car windows on-site. You arrange this easily and quickly when ordering your Kia Magentis windscreen, where you always see immediately what the total cost is.
Are you a professional yourself or do you know someone who can replace the Kia Magentis windscreen for you? Then of course you can also come to us for a new car window without fitting. In addition, garage and workshop owners regularly choose to collect their order from us to save even more on costs. Collection is always possible by appointment.
Are you looking for a new windscreen for your Kia Magentis and want to make sure you choose the best quality, but do not want to pay too much for it? Then you have come to the right place.
