When Kia shifted its attention from South Korea and the rest of Asia to Europe, something happened that could make the carmaker very happy. Indeed, the result, the Kia Cee'd (and later the Kia Ceed without the apostrophe) became a resounding success and over a million units have already been sold of this model that is still in production. In the Netherlands, at the time of writing, the counter stands at almost 50,000 units sold. If you have a Cee'd and need a windscreen replacement, you have come to the right place. Before we tell you all about it, we first put the Kia Cee'd under the microscope to see how it could become such a great success.
Kia has paid undivided attention to the South Korean market when designing and developing many of its models. In fact, there are many models that were only offered in Asia and never came to the rest of the world. The Kia Cee'd is a major exception to the rule, as this model was actually made entirely for the European market.
The Kia Cee'd was placed in the C-segment as a compact (family) car and shared the platform with the Hyundai i30. The model was the successor to the Kia Cerato, a model that never really took off in Europe. The Cee'd immediately got three trim levels (LX, EX and TX) and came with a 7-year factory warranty or 150,000 kilometres for the engine part and 5 years for the entire car.
A facelift was introduced in 2009, but this was only for the 5-door models. In fact, the 3-door did not get an update. The facelift included changes to the front and rear and gave the Cee'd the new Kia grille (Tiger Nose), as well as some minor interior modifications and technical improvements.
The second generation launched in 2012 was a completely new model that was supposed to be more efficient, better equipped and more elegant. While this was no doubt true for the 3-door hatchback, 5-door hatchback and 5-door estate, it was mainly the price that stood out for potential buyers. Indeed, the new generation was considerably more expensive. The price difference was so great that the Kia Cee'd could not even be counted among the budget models from the second generation onwards.
When the third generation was shown to the public in 2018, it was clear that Kia stayed true to the ideas behind the second generation, but not the name. That was changed from Cee'd to Ceed. The 3-door disappeared and the 5-door versions gained two brothers, namely the 5-door shooting brake (Proceed) and the SUV (Xceed).
A mild hybrid version of the Ceed was added in 2020. This got a 1.6 Smartstream diesel engine with 48 volts and was named EcoDynamics+.
There are still two special editions missing from this list, namely the Pro_Cee'd GT and the Cee'd GT. These came out in 2013 and 2014 and this was the first time Kia made a sportier version of an existing model, focusing exclusively on the European market. In particular, as you probably suspect, these models were much sportier and came with significantly more powerful engines (265 Nm of torque and up to 4600 rpm).
Kia bet fully on the European market, with the Cee'd, the name that was an abbreviation of Community of Europe, with European Design. The question is whether this was a successful move and the answer is a resounding yes. Almost 650,000 units of the first generation were sold in Europe. The second generation also narrowly missed the 650,000 mark and the third generation became an instant success. In the year of its introduction, almost 112,000 units were sold.
This is reflected in the Netherlands, where at the time of writing the counter is almost at 50,000 units sold. This does not make the Cee'd the leader of the list when it comes to the best-selling Kia models, as it is ahead of the Kia Picanto, Kia Niro, Kia Rio and the Kia Sportage in our country.
Kia's advertisements are not high points, but in the video below, you can clearly see what Kia capitalised on when introducing the new model. Indeed, the warranty period is very prominently featured, partly as a sign that the carmaker has full confidence in this model.
A clear view of the road without distractions is important for road safety. Unfortunately, this cannot be taken for granted as the windscreens of all cars are made of glass and glass can break. This is why there are strict rules regarding windscreen damage. Your Kia Cee'd windscreen must be replaced when there is windscreen damage in the driver's field of vision and this is a branched crack or a chip with a diameter of 2 centimetres or more. This damage seriously distracts while driving, obstructs road visibility and allows incoming light to be reflected unpredictably. This can lead to glare. Your car will therefore no longer pass the MOT with this window damage.
In all other cases, you can choose to continue driving with the damaged windscreen. However, before making your choice, take a look at the price of a new Kia Cee'd windscreen below.
After all, you already have a new Kia Cee'd windscreen for just €299 (suitable for the first generation) and that includes VAT. You choose whether to include fitting and/or delivery of the new windscreen. The page immediately adjusts the price for each choice you make, so you always see immediately what the total cost of your order is.
Our new windscreens are significantly cheaper than the original car windows for this model, and there is a striking reason for this. This is because the quality of the automotive glass is identical; the windows are made in exactly the same way. However, the original windscreens come with a brand logo that gives the windows an exclusive character. So it does nothing for the window, but it does for the price. That means you can always come to us for the best value for money when you are looking for a car window.
Saving money by choosing an after market windscreen for your Kia Cee'd is a smart choice. Trying to save money by replacing the windscreen yourself without adequate knowledge, experience and the right tools is not. If you make a small mistake, you could damage the new windscreen or car, which will actually increase the cost. That is why we work with professional fitting partners who replace car windows on-site, to completely unburden you.
If you are a professional yourself or know someone who can replace the Kia Cee'd windscreen for you, you can of course also come to us for a new windscreen without fitting.
Do you have a Kia Cee'd or Kia Ceed whose windscreen needs to be replaced and do you want to save on costs, but not on quality? Then you have come to the right place, even if you want optimal ordering and payment convenience.
