Cheap windscreen replacement for your Dacia Duster

The Dacia Duster is not a car model. It is a broad banner under which we find variants from Renault, Dacia and even Nissan. It is a type that received 0 stars in safety tests in India, conquered the market in South America, would be called the Terrano in Eastern Europe and should actually be a car to race on ice. In the Netherlands, this model has already been sold more than 10,000 times and this number continues to grow steadily with the newer generations. Do you have a Dacia Duster and do you need a windscreen replacement for your car? With us you can find Dacia automotive glass with the best value for money. Before we tell you exactly what replacing your windscreen costs, let's take a look at the Duster. What makes this model so popular?

The Dacia Duster: a collaboration between Renault and Dacia

Unlike the flopped Dacia Dokker, the Duster is a collaboration between Renault and Dacia, sharing both the production and marketing of the car. The model has been sold in other countries, such as Latin America and many countries in Eastern Europe, as the Renault Duster. In the Netherlands, we know the model as the Dacia Duster, which entered the market in 2010. The Duster used the B0 platform
(better known as the Logan platform), which means a lot of cargo space. With the rear seats folded down, this results in a luggage space of as much as 1,600 liters.

In 2013, the Duster received a facelift, with the front end featuring a completely new chrome grille and new headlights. The interior was also updated, with the collaboration partners making a striking choice. Indeed, after the facelift, the Duster no longer belonged in the segment of cheaper cars, as its price rose significantly. In 2017, the new generation entered the market, which had to compete with models such as the Peugeot 2008 and the Renault Captur, although the latter fell under the same banner as the Duster.

The new design chief, Laurens van den Acker,
decided to use the same platform (B0) and the dimensions are also almost identical. However, each panel was completely redesigned, in order to put a unique car on the market. With numerous new features, additions as well as a much higher level of finishing, the Duster left the cheaper segment completely and landed in the mid-range segment.

A family car, company car or still a beast for off-road?

The first car experts who were allowed to test the Dacia Duster immediately praised its performance on rough terrain, such as mud and mountains. They were critical of the car's mediocre finish, but at the same time enjoyed the model's ability to handle any terrain while driving. Below you can see for yourself what the Dacia Duster is capable of in a comparison with the Suzuki Jimny.

This is not very surprising, by the way. After all, the Duster is a production car of a model that was actually used for racing on ice. It shows once again how versatile a car model can be, especially when one can look past finishing details.

Has the Dacia Duster become a success in the Netherlands?

At the time of writing, the Duster has been sold more than 13,000 times in the Netherlands.
That seems a moderate number when looking at the overall market share (0.38% in the peak year 2011), but let's take the right perspective. Only the Dacia Sandero and Dacia Logan were sold more often in the Netherlands by Dacia, putting the Duster strongly in the top 3. By distance, by the way, because at number 4 is the Dacia Lodgy, which sold more than 10,000 fewer times.

When should you replace the windscreen of your Dacia Duster?

The risk of car windscreen damage is inevitable when you use the car, especially off-road where this model shines. In far from all cases, car window replacement is required immediately in the event of a tear or crack in the windscreen In fact, there are only two cases where windscreen replacement is necessary. These are damages in the driver's field of vision involving:

- A chip or star at least 20 millimeters in diameter;

- Or a branched crack.

In all other cases, you may continue driving with the windscreen damage: it is not even cause for rejection at the MOT. However, it is wise to keep an eye on the damage, especially if the windscreen damage is distracting while driving your Dacia Duster.
