The Skoda Fabia is a model that is already in its fourth generation at the time of writing and has become a great success for the car manufacturer. The model has also been well received in the Netherlands and is high on Skoda's list of best-selling models. Do you have a Fabia and need its windscreen replaced? Then you can find quality new windscreens with us without paying the top price. Before we tell you all about our cheap car windows, let's take a closer look at the success story of Skoda.
When Skoda needed to bring a replacement for the Skoda Felicia that was due to be taken out of production in 2001, the designers went to the drawing board to design a strong model and numerous different versions were immediately considered in order to claim a large market share. This resulted in the arrival of the Skoda Fabia in 1999, which was soon also available as the Fabia Combi (an estate or hatchback) and the Fabia Sedan.
The Skoda Fabia leans heavily on Volkswagen (and this is no secret), as Volkswagen's A04 platform was used to build the Fabia, the platform also used for the fourth generation of the Volkswagen Polo and the Seat Ibiza. It was soon clear that Skoda had a hit on its hands with the Fabia, especially since the entry-level model was bigger AND cheaper than the Volkswagen Lupo, giving it an instant great advertising pitch to dealers.
At the same time, almost everything on the Fabia came from Volkswagen, except for a few things like the MPI engines (the 1.0 and 1.4, as these came from Skoda itself). It wasn't until the 2004 facelift that the model moved a bit further away from Volkswagen, as here the Fabia got new fog lights, a new grille, and a Sport trim was added to the range. A few more minor tweaks came in 2006, but actually eyes were already on 2007, as Skoda had already announced the second generation of the Fabia.
The second generation in 2007 had more in common with the new Skoda Roomster and was larger than its predecessor, and this time engines from Audi were used to power the Fabia models. Four different equipment levels also came immediately to make the Fabia suit a variety of car buyers. In 2010, the second generation received a facelift, with the front end and fog lights being tackled (again), as were the engine offerings, with the models becoming mostly more fuel efficient.
Two years after the production of the 3 millionth Fabia, the third generation of the model hit the market in 2014. This “Mk3” Fabia was supposed to be a step back to the original model and was built on the PQ26 platform, reducing the model's weight by over 65 kilograms and focusing mainly on simplicity. In 2019 came a facelift for the model, with many tweaks, from full LED headlights to the interior and from the dashboard to the introduction of new equipment levels. It was all successful, as the 1 millionth example of the third generation rolled out of the factories a year later, making more than 4 million Fabias in total.
The fourth generation, based on Volkswagen's MQB-A0 platform, came next in late 2021. According to Skoda, this version is the best small car in the segment, partly because of its extremely low fuel consumption while at the same time having quite a bit of power under the bonnet. However, the Fabia Combi had to be scrapped because the larger version could not meet the Euro-7 standard.
In terms of marketing, Skoda has also created successes with the Fabia, especially with the ads that featured a Fabia with cake and pie. And with that in mind, the advert below is again special and strong.
If you use your car, the risk of windscreen damage is inevitable. Even a pebble splashed from under the tyres of the car in front of you can cause a crack or chip in the windscreen. However, it is not the case that the windscreen of your Skoda Fabia needs to be replaced immediately in all cases. On the contrary, because the windscreen should only be replaced when the glass damage is in the driver's field of vision and this is a chip with a diameter of 20 millimetres or more, or a branched crack.
In all other cases, you can continue driving with the damaged windscreen, although it may be worth checking below to see what a new Skoda Fabia windscreen costs with us, especially if the windscreen damage is bothersome or annoying.
Because you already have a new Skoda Fabia windscreen for €299, which is much cheaper than what your Skoda dealer charges you for a new car window. And that's remarkable, because the quality of the automotive glass is identical. However, our windscreens are so much cheaper because they don't come with a brand logo, which means the exclusive character is missing. The price difference is so great that our new after market windscreens for the Skoda Fabia are often still cheaper than used car windows for this model.
If you think you can also save on the cost of windscreen replacement by doing it yourself using an instruction video, we are happy to save you even more by strongly advising against it. If you make a small mistake or error during the process, you could damage yourself, the new windscreen or the car, which could result in (high) costs. To make things as easy as possible for you, we work with professional fitting partners who replace car windows on-site throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. Can you do it yourself or do you know someone who can replace the Skoda Fabia windscreen for you? Then you can also come to us for automotive glass excluding fitting, of course.
