Even when the Kia EV6 was introduced, it was clear that it was one of the better electric cars at the time, and that has resulted in numerous awards and mentions. The EV6 would not be just any electric car. While luxury and comfort have contributed to its success, the Kia EV6 has become best known as an electric car with a solid range and high charging speed, plus an ideal EV for a holiday. With a DC charger, it takes just 18 minutes to charge from 10 to 80 per cent and with home charging, you can drive away from home with a fully charged battery after 6 to 8.5 hours (11 kW charging pole). AND the Kia EV6 is an EV that does allow you to tow a trailer, caravan or folding trailer (more on that below).
In 2024, the model got a facelift, with a number of exterior features tweaked. For enthusiasts of the model, however, the biggest modification was the battery pack. Kia decided to make the model even more attractive by upgrading the battery pack from 77.4 kWh to 84 kWh.
Of all the awards and mentions the Kia EV6 has received, it is those from the ADAC and ANWB that stand out the most. The ADAC has been calling the electric Kia one of the best options on the market since 2022, and in 2024, the Kia EV6 won the 2024 Towing Car of the Year award. Why this is remarkable: the electric car is not often associated with caravan and trailer towing, but more and more people are going on holiday with the electric car and the Kia EV6 is one of the models that makes this easily possible.

Kia sold an average of around 20,000 units of the Kia EV6 in the United States in both 2022, 2023 and 2024, and for a car that is both electric and placed in a higher segment, that can immediately be called a success. Globally, the EV6 ticked close to 100,000 sales in 2023, after nearly 85,000 the year before. In the Netherlands, we see the same picture, with more than 11,000 units sold by the end of 2025, making this model already rivalling the Kia Carens and Kia Venga in terms of success.
Kia looked a lot to European car manufacturers for the production of the EV6, and the same goes for the advertisements made for this model. After all, the perfect advertisement for a European car involves a recognisable jingle, a feel-good story and preferably as little information about the car as possible.
