Cheap windscreen replacement for your Ford Mustang

Not only is the Ford Mustang a spectacular, sensational car from Ford, the story behind this success story is at least as stunning. Ford, the carmaker that initially fused a hodgepodge of parts into a new model, realised particularly late that it had developed an iconic model. Do you have a Ford Mustang whose windscreen needs replacing? Then you will find the cheapest windscreens with the best quality with us.

Before looking at our cheap car windows, we first clear the space that this special model undeniably deserves.

The Ford Mustang, a complete error of judgement on Ford's part

When Ford had designed the Mustang, the carmaker assumed that a maximum of 100,000 would be sold per year, as there would be a limited market for models like this. Of course, we now know that this would be far from true. Indeed, more than 1 million were sold within the first two years of production, and the model would remain in production from 1964 to the present. Indeed, the Ford Mustang is still being made, although Ford's current electric Mustang is a world away from the original models of the 1960s and 1970s.

The bizarre start: a car assembled from other Ford models

That Ford did not have high hopes for the Mustang can be seen in how the first model was made. Because the announced new price of the Mustang was, in retrospect, very low at $2,368, cuts had to be made in production. Therefore, particularly many parts were borrowed from the Ford Fairlane
and Ford Falcon,
reverting to simple parts to keep the price down. The chassis, most of the interior, the powertrain and even the suspension were taken straight off the factory shelves. Ford, incidentally, did little to disguise this. For example, the first models rushed out of the factory still had the Ford Falcon logo under the new Ford Mustang logo on the horn button.

Nevertheless, the success was still not capitalised on, as Americans seemed dumbfounded for the first few years. It wasn't until 1967 that work was done on modifications, which would mainly involve making the nose longer, but the car's power remained the same, although the V8 caused a stir even then.

1969: the year Ford realised the Mustang would become a legend

In 1969, Ford intervened and more attention was finally drawn to the Ford Mustang and the resounding success that was coming. Ford brought several options for the Mustang, some purely decorative, others mainly related to performance, such as the Mach 1, Boss 429 and the Boss 302, the latter two being for racing, something that would give the Mustang even more media attention.

Until 1974, the models only got bigger and heavier, with full focus on performance and looks. Iacocca,
the man behind the original design of the first Mustang, had by now taken charge at Ford and wanted a smaller, more fuel-efficient model as the second generation of the Mustang. Something that worked out brilliantly, by the way, because two months after the model's introduction came the first (major) oil crisis of '73. Incidentally, the second generation also borrowed a lot, something Ford is known for. For instance, the second generation was based on the Ford Maverick and the Ford Pinto, with even the engines of the Pinto and the Mercury Capri
being transferred linearly to the new model.

The third generation in 1979 also borrowed, but here the striking thing was that the new generation was immediately announced in multiple versions (coupé, hatchback and convertible) and would get many different trim levels, including the Ghia, a version we also saw in the second generation.

By the fourth generation (1993) and the facelift (1999), the Mustang would make the leap to a modern design, completely new from the drawing board. Although these examples look much more 'friendly', it shows how appearances can be deceiving with the vicious 4.6-litre V8 under the bonnet and the 3.8-litre fitted with extra power.

From the fifth generation (2005), everyone remembers the front end, the typical sporty look with the grille dropping away into the nose of the car. This generation is seen as a flashback to the 1960s, and for this fact alone, the model caught on right from its introduction.

Still in production and endless stories and versions

After numerous modifications and new versions (there are simply too many to cover on this page), in 2013 the sixth generation entered the market, a lower and wider model with a distinctive, different grille as well as a completely new, unique rear suspension with an IRS (independent rear suspension) system. That this was more than just a sporty model was shown when the car received the maximum 5 stars in US safety tests. Unfortunately, that only applied to America, as the NCAP test failed the model miserably with just 2 stars, with the driver (dummy) even coming over the airbag with his head against the steering wheel in the crash test.

In 2019 came the Ford GT500 Shelby, a model derived from the Shelby GT350 and, above all, a model with which Ford showed what it had to offer in terms of muscle cars. A 5.2-litre V8 (hand-cranked) with a 2.65-litre supercharger, a whopping 760 hp and a sickening 847 Nm of torque that would simultaneously become an unforgettable model.

We could show you plenty of videos, but we found one that shows the design, the engine, the details AND the test drive (to over 300 kilometres per hour). Skip to 10:50 if you want to see the Ford GT500 Shelby directly on the Autobahn to both see the torque and hear the stunning sound when the engine is really put to work.

The Mustang Mach-E and its seventh generation in 2024

In today's automotive world with an eye on sustainability and electric driving, a model like the Mustang obviously doesn't stand a chance. Or does it? Ford decided to market the muscle car as an electric car in the form of the Ford Mustang E-Mach, a remarkably affordable model (entry-level version) that still comes with many nice extras. Ford is cautious about this, by the way. The Mach-E is marketed as a standalone model and is not part of the Mustang label.

The seventh generation, due to hit the market in 2024, is a true Mustang though. A model with 452 hp, 540 Nm of torque and a 5.0-litre V8 with a breathtaking sound. This model has an incredible amount to offer (as a convertible and coupé), but many of the nicest features are optional, making it a pricey model. But a true icon may cost something, of course.

Just how big a success is the Ford Mustang really?

More than 10 million units (this figure was reached back in 2018) of the Ford Mustang have been sold and it is still a particularly sought-after model, as it was the most popular sports car in the United States in 2020. Still in production, the Ford Mustang is already in the history books as one of the best cars ever made by an American company.

Many of the successes of Ford's models are attributed to the marketing team, which knows how to tap into the head and heart of the car user like a machine. With the Mustang, it is different. Ford didn't think this was going to be a big success, it rapped together some parts and made sure the price was low. And the marketing team knew that. The keen eye can see in the original advert that the main emphasis is on the features (taken from other models) and the very attractive price:

As success became apparent and Ford paid more attention to the models and fitted them with much more power, Ford's marketing machine was not even needed. The model sold itself thanks to successes in races, street presence and the sound we now occasionally crave when driving on the highway.

Still, to end with a promo from Ford itself, we'd like to show you this one.

When should the Ford Mustang windscreen be replaced?

While windscreen damage is extremely annoying, it is just a notch worse with the Ford Mustang because you want to keep this car in optimal condition all the way. The windscreen should be replaced when there is windscreen damage in the driver's field of vision, involving a branched crack or a star at least 20 millimetres in diameter. Your car will be rejected at the MOT in these cases.

Of course, you can always choose to have the windscreen replaced in case of windscreen damage if the windscreen cannot be repaired. Especially when you see the price of a new windscreen with us, because getting your Mustang back in optimal condition is cheaper than you think.

What does a new windscreen for the Ford Mustang cost?

You already have a new Ford Mustang windscreen for just €599. This is considerably cheaper than the windscreens offered by your Ford dealer, while the quality of the automotive glass is identical. The big difference is the brand logo that is present in the dealer's windscreens, but absent in our replacement windscreens. This logo makes the automotive glass exclusively exclusive (and therefore more expensive) and therefore our automotive glass has the best price-quality ratio.

In fact, the price difference is so great that our new Ford Mustang windscreens are often still cheaper than second-hand windscreens for your car, while with our windscreens you can even arrange on-site windscreen replacement and count on the best quality (as they are in new condition).

Can I replace such a windscreen myself?

On-site windscreen replacement is a service we offer to take the worry off your hands. Replacing a windscreen yourself is not a good idea by definition, but with a model like the Mustang, you don't want to take any risks at all. The windscreen needs to be replaced correctly to avoid damage to the car, the new windscreen and yourself. In addition, you can be sure that the windscreen will be fitted perfectly when you choose our certified fitting partners.

At the same time, this means that you do not have to drive with windscreen damage to get to a service point or garage. This is because our partners simply replace the windscreen where the car is. So the windscreen can even be replaced in your driveway.

Are you an expert in windscreen replacement or do you know a specialist who can replace the windscreen of your Ford Mustang? Then you can also order automotive glass from us without fitting and possibly even without delivery. We supply windscreens for almost all car models to both private and business customers, which means everyone can come to us for affordable, quality car windows.
