The Ford B-Max entered the market in 2012 and immediately stood out with its sliding rear doors, the B-pillar (between the doors at the front and rear) that was missing and its particularly easy entry. The Ford B-Max was the successor to the Ford Fusion and was built on Ford's B platform and was to be an all-European model, competing with the Nissan Note, the Citroën C3 (especially the Picasso) and the Fiat 500L.
Although the Ford B-Max only went into production in 2012, machinery was already stopped in 2017 and the model was taken out of production. Demand for mini MPVs, which the B-Max falls under, had declined so much that Ford decided not even to develop a facelift for the model, but to simply take the entire model line off the table. That Ford immediately went looking for the big market can be seen in the models that would succeed the B-Max: the Ford EcoSport and the Ford Puma, the crossover that was, at the time, indeed particularly in demand.
