Cheap windscreen replacement for your BMW X4

The BMW X4 is often referred to as the coupé version of the BMW X3, with this model being less practical than its little brother. This is no surprise, since the even type numbers of the BMW series always focus on sportiness and not directly on convenience for the whole family. With the BMW X4, this is immediately apparent from the power of the car and the sloping roof towards the back.

Do you have a BMW X4 and does the windscreen of your car need replacing? With us, you can find new BMW X4 windscreens from as little as € 269. Before we explain why our car windows are so much cheaper than the glass at your local car dealer, let's take a closer look at the BMW X4. Was this model a success or did the German carmaker focus too much on sportiness and too little on the practical side of the car?

The BMW X4; the less practical and sportier BMW X3

In 2014, the BMW X4 saw the light of day. The model was clearly derived from the BMW X3, but was marketed as an SAC (sports activity coupe) with a sloping roof to the rear that set it apart strongly from the SUV models in the X line. However, the powertrains of the X3 were adopted and, as the name suggests, the X4 was placed in the market between the BMW X3 and the BMW X5.

In 2015, the BMW X6 M Performance M40i was announced. The top model arrived at the dealer in February 2016 and delivered 355 hp with an impressive 465 Nm thanks to the turbocharged six-cylinder.

The second generation from 2018

In July 2018, the second generation of the BMW X4 hit the market and once again it was chosen to borrow much from the BMW X3, including the platform and styling elements. The models come in three trim levels; xLine, M Sport and M Sport X trim. As expected, the models are equipped with numerous (optional) features, such as Google Assistant integration, sportier suspension, different spoilers and a racing steering wheel. This makes it more than clear that the BMW X4 was never designed to be a suitable family car.

The BMW X4 stands for action, luxury, power and above all, a particularly tough car. This is also the message that BMW wanted to convey with the introduction of the second generation, in which a special promotional film was made that makes us secretly wonder for which target group the BMW X4 was developed exactly.

Has the BMW X4 been a success?

The first generation of the BMW X4 failed. Not that BMW will readily admit it, but the first generation never got the facelift or upgrade that was common to BMW's X-line models. After producing around 200,000 models, the first generation was hastily withdrawn from production, in order to give the second generation a chance on the scene.

The model also barely got a foothold in the Netherlands. At the time of writing, the counter has not even reached 2,000 units in the Netherlands, which puts it right at the bottom of the list, along with the BMW X6. We can't call this very surprising, though. The even type numbers of the BMW X-line are more models in which BMW wants to show off its muscle than cars in which the average consumer actually drives.

When should the windscreen of your BMW X4 be replaced?

Car windscreen damage is annoying, but it's by no means a reason to panic, although some companies would have you believe otherwise. Windscreen damage is only rejected by the MOT when it is in the driver's field of vision and when it is at least a 20 millimetres diameter chip or a branched crack.

Is the window damage on another place or is the chip smaller than 20 millimetres in diameter? Then the car will not be rejected by the MOT and you can continue driving with the damaged windscreen. But it is wise to keep an eye on the damage. A damaged windscreen can crack further. This is especially the case with large temperature differences inside and outside the car, like when driving with the airco on on a hot summer day.

What does a new windscreen for my BMW X4 cost?

With us, you can find a new BMW X4 windscreen for as little as € 269. That is considerably cheaper than the price your BMW dealer will charge you. The reason for this is the brand logo in a BMW windscreen. This logo does nothing for the windscreen itself, but it does give it an exclusive character and thus a higher price.

Our aftermarket windscreens do not have a brand logo. However, the quality is identical; the windscreens in our range are made in the same factories as the ones at your BMW dealer. This means that you can always count on us to give you the best value for money on our car windows when you order them online.

Can I replace the BMW X4 windscreen myself?

Replacing a windscreen yourself is only possible if you have the experience and knowledge. If you don't have this or if you're not sure you can replace a windscreen yourself, it's better to let a specialist do it for you. When you choose for our BMW X4 windscreens, you can arrange for immediate fitting by our certified partners. They replace windscreens on location throughout the Netherlands and Belgium, regardless of where your car is parked. So you can have the windscreen of your BMW X4 replaced while you are at work, or in the car park of the shopping centre while you are shopping.
