Although the Skoda Scala is an excellent car and should have performed well on paper, this Skoda model has been somewhat overlooked. However, fierce competition in the market segment has meant that, despite its name, the Scala has not really managed to break through in the Western European market. Do you have a Scala and need to replace the windscreen? Then you will find cheap windscreens with us without compromising on quality. Before we look at our cheap replacement car windows, let's first take a look at the model that perhaps deserved better.
In December 2018, the Skoda Scala was unveiled to the public for the first time, and a year later, the Scala actually went into production. It is a smaller family car that was placed in the C segment, despite being built on a B segment platform (Volkswagen's MQB A0). Skoda wanted to position the new model between the Skoda Octavia and the Skoda Fabia, and the Scala would have a lot in common with the Volkswagen Polo and the Seat Ibiza. The Scala was also longer than the Volkswagen Golf, but at the same time it would have a competitive entry-level price that would attract consumers to the dealers in droves.
With four trim levels, constant internet connection (a first for Skoda), a large instrument panel and blind spot camera, as well as numerous other ADAS systems, the Scala was, on paper, a strong choice for modern families. However, the long list of competitors also included many suitable models, which meant that the Scala would have a tough time.
In 2023, the Skoda Scala received a facelift, at the same time as the Skoda Kamiq. These were the standard modifications we have come to expect from Skoda, including more recycled materials for the car, a new front and rear, and Simply Clever features borrowed from other Skoda models. As with the Kamiq, the diesel engines were removed from the range for the Scala after the facelift.
On paper, the Skoda Scala was a strong model with numerous features and, above all, a relatively low entry price. Skoda also had a message with the name of the model. “Scala” means “staircase” in Latin, and Skoda wanted to make it clear that this model was a huge step forward in the compact car segment, something Skoda still had a lot of work to do on. But it was not a runaway success at the dealers, and production numbers would not exceed 55,000 in any year. In fact, only in 2020 and 2021 were sales figures around 50,000; in all other years, there was hardly any demand for the Scala.
The advertisement below shows that Skoda has clearly focused on creating a car for the modern family with a dynamic lifestyle, but perhaps more of the car's features should have been highlighted in the advertisement.
Windscreen damage is always annoying. Not only because it can cause dangerous situations and a chip or crack simply looks ugly, but also because windscreen damage can mean you have to look for a new windscreen. But in which cases does the windscreen actually need to be replaced? This is the case with windscreen damage in the driver's field of vision where there is a branched crack or a chip with a diameter of at least 2 centimetres. In such cases, the car will no longer pass its MOT and is no longer roadworthy.
In all other cases, you can choose to continue driving with the damage to the windscreen, although it may be worth checking out the prices of our new Skoda Scala windscreens below first.
You can get a new Skoda Scala windscreen for €399, including VAT. This makes our car windows considerably cheaper than those available from your Skoda dealer, while the quality of the windows is identical. The only difference is the brand logo incorporated into the original car windows, which also affects the price tag. Since we do not need exclusive logos to make high-quality automotive glass, the prices of our replacement windscreens are considerably lower. This means that you can always find car windows with the best price-quality ratio at our company. The price of our new Skoda Scala windscreens is often even lower than that of second-hand automotive glass, where you can never be sure of the quality of the window.
If you are hoping to find instructions for replacing your Skoda Scala windscreen here, we are happy to help you further.
