The Skoda Kamiq is one of Skoda's models with which the carmaker wanted to capitalise on a specific market and further elevate the Czech brand's reputation. It succeeded, as the Kamiq has become a fairly popular model with a strong name. Do you have a Kamiq and need a windscreen replacement? In 2018, Skoda threw in the towel and came up with Vision X, a programme designed to ensure that Skoda would make an even stronger name for itself by producing modern, reliable cars. A year after Vision X, the Skoda Kamiq was launched, a B-segment crossover SUV that would be smaller than the Skoda Karoq, Skoda Enyaq and the Skoda Kodiaq (also SUV models).
The Kamiq was set on the MQB A0 platform from Volkswagen (like the Seat Arona and the Volkswagen T-Cross) and would only come with front-wheel drive and not all-wheel drive. This was a conscious decision, as the Kamiq was meant for people living in urbanised areas and wanting to make the most of the SUV there. That is why the Kamiq pays extra attention to legroom for rear-seat occupants and also gave the model a very modest size.
The 2023 facelift was a fairly standard intervention and Skoda connoisseurs can already see that the car brand would use more sustainable materials (including recycled materials) for the facelift and that LED headlights would be placed in the model. It also raised the bar and would improve the interior, using the “Simply Clever” features that Skoda borrowed from the other models to keep it easier and more uniform.
The facelift, incidentally, saw the diesel engine disappear from the range entirely. From 2023, the Skoda Kamiq will only come with petrol engines.

Any kind of damage to the car is annoying, but when it comes to windscreen damage, there is often a lot that is unclear. When does the windscreen actually need to be replaced in case of windscreen damage, and when can you just continue driving with a chip or crack in the window? The rules are clear: if it is a branched crack or a chip with a diameter of 20 millimetres or more and the damage is in the driver's field of vision, the windscreen of your Skoda Kamiq has to be replaced. Your car will then also be rejected at the next MOT.
In all other cases, you can choose to continue driving with the damaged windscreen, but keep an eye on the damage. Indeed, if the difference in temperature between the two sides of the windscreen increases, the damage may increase and do become problematic.
