Cheap windscreen replacement for your Honda Stream

The Honda Stream is undoubtedly one of Honda's dullest models; a model made purely with the market and the demand from car buyers in mind. However, the MPV never became a great success and during the second generation, sales figures sank so far that Honda took the model out of production. Do you own one of the 500 Stream units sold in the Netherlands and do you need a windscreen replacement? Then find the cheapest new windscreens without compromising on quality. Before we surprise you with the low price of our automotive glass, let's take a brief look at the Stream.

2000: the first generation of the “sporty” Honda Stream

The first generation of the Honda Stream entered the market in 2000 and was, according to (only) Honda, a sporty MPV or estate. The car offered room for seven people, but where Honda thought it would get the sporty part from was unclear. The Stream was available with either a 1.7 or 2.0-litre engine, although the larger engine would not get a four-wheel-drive version until 2001.

The Honda Stream was supposed to replace the Honda Orthia and was largely based on the Honda Civic, although the Stream was obviously longer to make room for the third row of seats.

2003, the Honda Stream Absolute

In 2003 came a facelift for the Stream, but the most notable change was the addition of the Honda Stream Absolute, a sportier model with a 2.0 K20B (direct injection) engine, which made the model considerably more fuel efficient. Although this was a big step forward, the Absolute was only launched in Japan.

For Europe, things changed too. From 2004, the Stream would only be sold as a 6-seater in Britain, instead of 7.

The second generation of the Honda Stream in 2006

With the introduction of the second generation, Honda tried to turn the tide for the disappointing results of the Stream. The new generation entered the market in two versions, a cheap option with a 1.8-litre SOHC i-VTEC. The more expensive version came with a 2.0-litre, CVT transmission and an optional flipper on the steering wheel (7-step) for shifting.

However, sales results did not pick up and Honda decided in 2014 to pull the plug on the model, which never lived up to expectations.

The disappointing success of the Honda Stream

The total production figures of the Honda Stream were never made public, but they are not needed to see that the model was a flop. In the first three years of sales in Europe (usually where the biggest successes are found), only 15,410 units were sold across the continent. In the Netherlands, the Stream never took off either (though large MPV models often score moderately). Less than 500 units
were sold, putting the Stream even below the Honda FR-V, Honda Quintet and Honda Logo on the list of Honda's best-selling models in the Netherlands.

Most of Honda's advertisements are underwhelming. The advert for the Stream beats everything and we won't say anything else about it, we will leave the judgement entirely to you.

When should the windscreen of your Honda Stream be replaced?

Windscreen damage can be very annoying, especially if it bothers you while driving or if it is very noticeable and annoys you. However, it is not the case that you should immediately look for a new windscreen in all cases. On the contrary, in most cases you can continue driving with damaged windscreens.

This is not the case when the windscreen damage is in the driver's field of vision and this is a branched crack or a chip with a diameter of at least 2 centimetres. Indeed, in these cases, the windscreen does need to be replaced because the risk is simply too great. Incidentally, your car will also not pass the MOT with this windscreen damage, as the car with this damage does not meet the minimum requirements for safe participation in traffic.

What does a new Honda Stream windscreen cost?

However, you can have a new Honda Stream windscreen for as little as €349 when you choose us. This is much cheaper than the original windows for the Stream, while the quality of the automotive glass is identical. The difference is in a brand logo that is incorporated in the original car windows and that logo creates an exclusive character, which only means a higher price. Since our windscreens do not have an exclusive brand logo that does nothing for the automotive glass, with us you can always count on car windows with the best value for money. Our price is so low that our new Honda Stream windscreens are often still cheaper than second-hand automotive glass.

Can you replace the Honda Stream windscreen yourself?

There are many things you can do yourself to save money, but replacing the windscreen of your Honda Stream yourself is not one of them. If you make a small mistake, it can already cause a damaged new windscreen or even damage to the car. That will only cause the costs to increase further. That is why we work with professional fitting partners who replace car windows on-site throughout the Netherlands and Belgium.

Do you have experience with windscreen replacement? Then you can also come to us for automotive glass without fitting. You can even choose to collect your order from us.
