Cheap windscreen replacement for your Honda HR-V

The Honda HR-V has become an international success for the Japanese carmaker, despite the fact that there was a considerable gap between the first and second generation. Although its success outside Europe was considerably greater than in Europe, quite a few units were sold in the Netherlands and we can easily say that the Honda HR-V has become a success number. If you have an HR-V whose windscreen needs replacing, then you have come to the right place if you are looking for automotive glass with the best value for money. Before we look at this further, let's take a look at the Honda HR-V to see how it managed to become such a great success.

1999-2006, the first generation of the Honda HR-V

The first generation of the Honda HR-V entered the market in 1999 and shared the platform with the Honda Logo. Initially available as a 3-door, the model was joined by a 5-door version in 2000. Although the model was a somewhat strange appearance, the HR-V was immediately packed with features and got a whopping 285 litres of boot space. All-wheel drive (Real Time 4WD) was taken out of the Honda CR-V and in 2002, the model got a facelift in which both the exterior and interior were modified.

The first generation was withdrawn from production in 2006 and for a long time it looked like there would be no successor.

2013: the Honda HR-V returns after all

In 2013, however, the second generation was released anyway, which would be based on the platform of the Honda Jazz (Honda Fit) and this was Honda's smallest SUV at the time of production. The second generation was given a much sleeker, modern look and thanks to the Magic Seats (also taken from the Honda Fit), the model became more versatile as the lower part of the seat could be folded to carry more luggage.

The second generation was also the time when the first electric HR-V entered the market, clearly in line with Honda's goals of releasing more electric models.

2021: the third generation of the Honda HR-V

In 2021, Honda launched the third generation of the HR-V, either directly with combustion engines or fully electric drive. Once again, the model was given a more modern, sleeker look, which would emerge even more strongly after the 2024 facelift. The new front and exterior colours, plus the new safety features, were to ensure that this model could once again compete with the other SUVs. Something that was not very unnecessary, as with models like the Subaru Crosstrek, Hyundai Kona, Chevrolet Trailblazer and Toyota Corolla Cross in the same market, it continues to compete for market share.

The success of the Honda HR-V in hard numbers

And that is something we can see reflected when we look at the success of the HR-V. Naturally, the HR-V became a reasonable success in Japan, with an average of between 50,000 and 60,000 units sold annually. The model also did well in the United States, with as many as 151,000 sold by 2024. Globally, sales figures look very good, until we look at Europe, where the sales record stands at just 33,000 units and no other year shows more than 30,000 units sold.

In the Netherlands, however, the Honda HR-V was reasonably successful. At the time of writing (the model is still in production), more than 5,000 units
have been sold, making it one of Honda's best-selling models in this country. It scores better than the Honda Concerto and Honda Logo, but at the same time lags far behind models such as the Honda Integra and Honda Insight. The Honda HR-V ranks eighth on the list of Honda's best-selling models in the Netherlands.

Honda is often criticised for its adverts, which are often boring, strange or totally unattractive. An advert has been made for the Honda HR-V for the Australian market that can easily be called one of the better attempts, although you may wonder whether the use of the indicator at around 1 minute into the video really makes sense.

When should the windscreen of your Honda HR-V be replaced?

Although modern windscreens are strong and even consist of two layers of glass with a layer of PVB film in between, glass can still break. Damage to the windscreen is always annoying, because you want to have a clear view of the road while driving. That is why the rules surrounding windscreen damage are strict when it comes to damage in the driver's field of vision. If there is a cracked crack or a chip with a diameter of 2 centimetres or more, the windscreen must be replaced.

In all other cases, you can choose to continue driving with the damaged windscreen, but be sure to check out the cost of a new Honda HR-V windscreen from us below before making your decision.

How much does a new Honda HR-V windscreen cost?

You can get a new Honda HR-V windscreen for just €349, including VAT. This makes our windscreens much cheaper than the original windscreens available from your Honda dealer. This is remarkable, because the quality of the automotive glass is identical. Original windscreens are only more expensive because of the brand logo, which gives them an exclusive character. As we offer unbranded replacement car windows, you can always count on us for the best value for money. Our prices are so low that our new Honda HR-V windscreens are almost always cheaper than second-hand car windows.

Can you replace the windscreen of your HR-V yourself?

To make it even easier for you, we work with professional fitting partners who replace car windows on-site throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. The average car owner is not able to replace the windscreen of his or her car themselves, because this is a precise and extensive job, where even a small mistake can result in high costs, for example if the new windscreen or car is damaged.

Are you able to replace the windscreen of your Honda HR-V yourself, or do you know someone who can do it for you? Then you can also come to us for new car windows without fitting. Many garage owners even choose to collect their order from us in order to save even more on costs. If you would like to do this too, that is of course possible (by appointment only).
