Honda had big plans for the small Honda Logo, which was supposed to follow in the footsteps of the Honda Civic. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a disappointment, as sales of this model never really took off. Chances are slim that Honda is still mourning that, as these lessons allowed for a great comeback. If you have a Honda Logo whose windscreen needs to be replaced, then you have come to the right place. Before we tell you why, let's take a look at the Logo to see why zit model has become so important to Honda.

In 1996, the Honda Logo entered the market, a B-segment 3-door and 5-door hatchback that shared the platform with the Honda Capa, and it replaced the Honda City. The idea was to emulate the success of the Honda Civic, by making the model even smaller (and slightly larger than the Honda Life). Since this was a supermini, Honda hoped for hefty sales successes, as it perfectly matched the demand in the market, where small, fuel-efficient cars were eagerly sought after.

More of a lesson than an actual sales success

That didn't work out. In fact, the Honda Logo would become a flop, mainly because Honda paid a lot of attention to economics and practicality, but otherwise failed to turn it into an exciting, attractive car, when that was exactly what younger car buyers (who were mainly looking for smaller, fuel-efficient cars) really wanted.

So Honda went back to the drawing board, using the lessons it had learned from the Honda Logo. The new objective was to create a fresh, fun car, with a little less emphasis on economics and practicality, as the Logo had already proven that this did not work. At the same time, it was decided to include the positives as well. Because although the Logo did not become a success, it did come back high in the lists in terms of customer satisfaction. From this emerged the Honda Fit, a model that would become a significantly greater success for Honda (and which would be sold in Europe as the Honda Jazz).

If we look at the Netherlands, this picture becomes immediately clear. Around 1,500 Honda Logos
were sold, which is slightly better than the Honda Quintet and the Honda FR-V. At the same time, we find the Honda Jazz much higher on the list of Honda's best-selling models in the Netherlands, with no fewer than 23,000 models sold. Although the Honda Logo was not a success, it was a model from which Honda learned a lot.

When should the windscreen of your Honda Logo be replaced?

If you regularly use your Honda Logo in traffic, the risk of windscreen damage is inevitable. A single stone chip can cause a star or crack, but not all cases of windscreen damage require a new windscreen. This is only the case when the damage is in the driver's field of vision and is a branched crack or a chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres. In these cases, the damage is too distracting while driving, obstructs your view of the road and can blind you when incoming light is reflected in unpredictable ways. This will therefore fail the MOT test.

In all other cases, you can choose to continue driving with the damaged windscreen, but be sure to check the price of a new Honda Logo windscreen below before making your decision.

How much does a new Honda Logo windscreen cost?

You can get a new Honda Logo windscreen for just €449 (including VAT, excluding the cost of a new windscreen moulding). Our new windscreens are much cheaper than the original ones, while the quality of the automotive glass is identical. The price difference is due to the brand logo, which gives the original windscreens an exclusive character and is included in the price. Our unbranded replacement windscreens therefore offer the best value for money, as the logo adds nothing to the windscreen. The price difference is so great that our new Honda Logo windscreens are often even cheaper than second-hand automotive glass.

Can you replace the windscreen of your Honda Logo yourself?

Although the Honda Logo is a modest size, we do not recommend that you attempt to replace the windscreen yourself if you have little or no experience in replacing windscreens. Even a small mistake can damage the new window or the car, or cause the new windscreen to suddenly come loose during abrupt braking because it was not fitted properly.

To make things as easy as possible for you, we work with professional fitting partners who will come to your location. This means you never have to drive around with a damaged windscreen looking for a garage or workshop; the windscreen will simply be replaced where your car is currently parked.

Are you an automotive glass specialist yourself, or do you know someone who can replace the windscreen of your Honda Logo? Then you can also order new windscreens from us without fitting. You can even choose to collect your order from us.
