Cheap windscreen replacement for your Honda FR-V

The Honda FR-V was a larger MPV and was meant to be of particular interest to larger families, and thanks to the 3+3 seating arrangement, it was an instant attention-grabbing model. A huge success the FR-V did not become, although a reasonable number are still driving around in Europe. If you have an FR-V that needs a new windscreen, be sure to choose replacement car windows that are considerably cheaper, without having to compromise on quality. Before we explain exactly how that is possible, let's look at the MPV from Japan of which only one generation would be made.

2004 to 2009, the production period of the Honda FR-V

In 2004, the Honda FR-V entered the market, which would be called the Honda Edix in Japan. The FR-V was a 6-seater, with a 3+3 seating arrangement (just like in the Fiat Multipla). It is claimed that “FR-V” stands for “Flexible Recreation Vehicle”, but Honda has never confirmed or denied this, so it is unclear whether this is correct.

The Honda FR-V is on the same platform as the Honda CR-V (and thus also the Honda Civic), but has been given a longer wheelbase. To make it entirely a family car, Honda has added some clever features to the model. For instance, the middle seat can be folded down to create a table or armrest, and three ISOFIX points were fitted, so families with small children would put this Honda high on their list of favourites.

A facelift came in 2007, with the front of the car being modified and the wood disappeared from the interior. An aux port for the infotainment system and a 2.2 i-CTDi diesel engine were also added to the engine range, but production would cease just two years later and there was no direct successor to the Honda FR-V.

Has the Honda FR-V been a success for the Japanese?

Production figures for the Honda FR-V have never been made public, something that seems to indicate a disappointing sales success. At the same time, we know that more than 13,000 units
were sold in the UK and more than 1,300 drove away from dealerships in the Netherlands. That this puts the FR-V somewhere in the middle of Honda's list of best-selling models in the Netherlands is not a bad result at all for an MPV.

What was pretty mediocre, by the way, was the advertising Honda did for the model. We won't say anything else about it, just take a look for yourself:

When should the windscreen of your Honda FR-V be replaced?

Windscreen damage is always annoying, especially when it is caused by a pebble splashing against the windscreen and you are startled by the grim sound of breaking glass. You want to have good visibility on the road and an intact, clean windscreen is indispensable for that. Yet in far from all cases of windscreen damage, the windscreen does not have to be replaced, as the rules are especially strict regarding damage in the driver's field of vision. If there is a branched crack or a chip with a diameter of 20 millimetres or more, your car will be rejected at the MOT and you will not be allowed to continue driving. The damage obstructs visibility too much and can reflect incoming light in unpredictable ways, which can blind you while driving. Hence, the windscreen should always be replaced in case of this glass damage.

If the damage is in a different place or the extent is less extensive, the choice is yours. You may continue driving with the damaged windscreen, or you can always choose to replace it or have it replaced. And with our low prices for new automotive glass, that may just become a much easier choice than you think right now.

What does a new Honda FR-V windscreen cost?

Because you already have a new Honda FR-V windscreen for just €399 and that includes VAT. This makes our new windscreens significantly cheaper than those offered by the Honda dealer, while the quality is identical. The big difference is that we offer unbranded automotive glass, also known as replacement car windows. The original car windows offered by dealers feature a brand logo that ensures an exclusive character, while the logo does nothing else for the automotive glass. This means that with us, you can therefore always count on the best value for money when you are looking for new, cheap car windows.

Can you replace the windscreen of your Honda FR-V yourself?

Replacing a windscreen is a tricky job that needs to be done accurately and precisely to avoid damage to the new windscreen and the car. If you are not sure if you can do it yourself, then in almost all cases this means it is better to leave it to a specialist. If you choose us, it is very easy. During the ordering process, you can simply indicate that you want to have your windscreen replaced by our professional fitting partners, who replace windscreens on location throughout the Netherlands and Belgium.

Should you be able to replace the windscreen yourself or know someone who can replace the Honda FR-V windscreen for you, you can also contact us for new windscreens without fitting. You can even choose to collect the order from our workshop (by appointment only).
