Cheap windscreen replacement for your BMW Mini

In 1994, BMW acquired Rover Group from British Aerospace, thereby also gaining control of Mini. This was a practical move, as the German car brand was looking for ways to market more SUVs and compact cars in order to meet the current demand in the car market. Do you have one of the Mini models made in collaboration with BMW and need a windscreen replacement? Then you have come to the right place. We have Mini windscreens from € 249.

Before we go into our low prices for Mini windscreens, let's take a look at how BMW managed to increase their market share without developing their own models.

Mini; from English to German

The original Mini is a two-door, compact car produced from 1959 to 2000. It was developed by the British Motor Corporation and was seen as the British counterpart to the German Volkswagen Beetle and was a great success.

In the 1990s, BMW was looking for ways to increase its market share. The demand for large, sporty cars (in the Gran Tourer/Turismo style of the Germans) was decreasing, while the demand for compact cars and SUVs was increasing. At the time, BMW already had a number of concept cars ready, including an electric model. When BMW took over Mini, it insisted that the characteristics of the BMW models (especially the rear-wheel drive) be continued in the acquired brands. Mini was not keen on this. The result was that BMW itself continued the plans in the BMW 1-Series and a separate mid-range Mini was brought onto the market under its own label.

Since 2001, the Mini models feature three trim levels; the One (entry level), the Cooper, the sportier Cooper-S and the top-end John Cooper Works (also known as JCW). The first model after being taken over by BMW was the Mini Hatch or Hardtop, followed by the Mini Convertible and Cabrio in 2005. The Mini Clubman followed in 2008, and the Mini Countryman was added to the range in 2011. In the same year, the Mini Coupé was announced and went on sale a year later. The Mini Roadster, launched the same year, is the convertible version of the Coupé. The Paceman would become the brand's seventh model in 2013, which would be a three-door crossover.

Has Mini become a success under BMW?

The sales figures of the original Mini are unbeatable. Even in the Netherlands, the type was sold more than 60,000 times. However, BMW does seem to have taken the right path, especially with the newer models. Indeed, since 2015, Mini has managed to grab more than 1% market share on Dutch soil six years in a row, with respectable sales figures. This is not only due to the car models themselves, but also the marketing is just right. The playfulness in the video below, together with the message (Mini as the city car) is not to be missed;

When should the windscreen of the Mini be replaced?

There are numerous ways in which the windscreen of the Mini can become damaged. Think of splashing stones and damage from falling objects. In most cases, windscreen damage is not a reason to panic. The windscreen of the Mini should only be replaced when there is damage to the windscreen in the driver's field of vision and it concerns;

  • A chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres, or;
  • A branched crack.

The above mentioned window damage is not approved for the purposes of the MOT. If you have a chip or crack outside the driver's field of vision, the window does not need to be replaced. However, it is wise to keep an eye on the window damage as a damaged window may crack further.

What does a new windscreen for a (BMW) Mini cost?

We have new Mini windscreens for as little as € 249. In the overview on this page you can easily select the windscreen you need, after which you can directly select whether you want delivery and/or fitting to be arranged.

The price shown jumps with each selection you make, so you can always see the exact price.

Why are our Mini windscreens so attractively priced?

The prices of automotive glass at your brand dealer are many times higher than at ours. This has to do with the brand logos that are processed in the windscreens at your dealer. The exclusive character of the glass results in a higher price, while the logo does nothing for the glass itself. Our aftermarket windscreens don't have a brand logo, but they are made in the same factories as the branded ones, so you can always count on the same quality.

The price difference is so big that our new Mini windscreens are often even cheaper than the second-hand, original Mini windscreens.

Can I replace the windscreen of my Mini myself?

If you are not sure if you can replace the windscreen of your Mini yourself, the answer is no. Replacing a windscreen (as opposed to a side window, for example) is a precise job that is best left to an expert.If you choose our windshields, our certified fitting partners will also install the new window on location throughout the Netherlands and Belgium.  That way you don't have to worry about a thing and you can always count on a long life for your windscreen.
