Cheap windscreen replacement for your BMW X3

The BMW X3 was the first mid-size premium SUV on the market. BMW would soon change the name to SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle), to emphasize the sportier character of the X-line more. The BMW X3 became a great success in Europe, and even in the United States BMW managed to sell a considerable number of copies.

Do you have a BMW X3 with windscreen damage and do you need a windscreen replacement? With us, you can find new BMW X3 windscreens from € 249. What's more, our certified fitting partners can always replace the windscreen on-site. Before we look at cheap windscreens for your BMW, let's take a closer look at the X3 model. How did this model become such a success?

The first generation BMW X3 from 2003

The BMW X3 saw the light of day in September 2003. The model was given the model number E83 and is built on the BMW 3 Series platform. The idea was to create an SUV with a small size, while at the same time paying attention to the car's sportiness. To emphasise this, the model was already given an upgrade in 2005 and a facelift in 2007. The main focus was on the engine range and the interior style.

Initially, the high entry-level price of the BMW X3 met with some criticism, but this was mainly due to all the equipment the model came with. These include a premium audio system with eight speakers, aluminium details in the interior, a 17-inch screen, smart-key and a host of additional, optional features such as a heated steering wheel and adaptive xenon headlights.

Second generation from 2010

Unlike the first generation, the second generation of the BMW X3, the F25, is not made in Austria (Magna Steyr), but in the United States (Greer). The second generation was in production for seven years and was initially only equipped with four-wheel drive. The M Performance put even more emphasis on the sporty character. For example, you could count on a tougher, black grille and an even sportier steering wheel.

Once again the BMW X3 was updated, this time in 2014. Numerous elements were modified, such as new cup holders, new colours, xLine equipment and optional automatic climate control.

Then in 2017 it was the turn of the third generation of the BMW X3 (G01). This was executed as a plug-in hybrid, petrol and diesel. In 2018, an all-electric version of the BMW X3 also arrived on the drawing board, which would go into production in 2020 under the name BMW iX3. In 2021, this model actually entered the market.

The BMW X3 M Competition; a car developed for...who exactly?

The BMW X3 M Competition is the top model of the line. A very special model, we must say. A six-cylinder in-line High Performance BMW M TwinPower engine, 8-step Steptronic gearbox and 510 hp with an astonishing 650 Nm that could almost pile up the tiles of your neighbour's driveway. Is all that necessary? Not really, but we know BMW makes its top models to surprise and show what the brand can do. It is not a shopping car. And boring N-roads are not what you buy the car for either. That BWM is well aware of this is shown in the advertising, which is a work of art in itself.

When should the windscreen of your BMW X3 be replaced?

There are numerous ways in which the windscreen can be damaged (especially in the area shown in the video above). However, there is no reason to panic in all cases. Usually you can just keep on driving with a chip or crack in the windscreen. However, windscreen damage can mean a MOT rejection. This is the case with damage to the windscreen in the field of vision of the driver where it concerns a chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres or a branched crack.

Is this not the case and do you continue to drive with the damage in the windscreen? Please keep an eye on the damage as a damaged windscreen can continue to crack.
