Cheap windscreen replacement for your BMW X1

The BMW X1 has been the answer of the car manufacturer who was looking for a compact, luxurious and low consumption model to meet the current demand of the market. The BMW X1 had to be positioned low in the market, but at the same time it had to retain its appeal for the average BMW enthusiast. This has succeeded, despite the fact that BMW has done everything in its power to get the model out of the factory as quickly as possible.

Do you have a BMW X1 and do you need a windscreen replacement? With us, you can find new BMW X1 windscreens for as little as € 299. Before we look at the price of windscreen replacements for the BMW X1, let's take a look at the German carmaker's emergency move that worked out surprisingly well.

BMW X1, a compact SUV from BMW and the saviour in need

Since the second half of the 1990s, BMW had been looking for ways to generate more sales. BMW's sporty-guzzling monsters were becoming less and less popular in a market where consumers were looking for fuel-efficient, compact cars. In 2006, BMW began development of the BMW X1, which was presented as the BMW Concept X1 in Paris in 2008. In order to get the car to market as quickly as possible, the pre-production and development period was reduced by as much as 40%.

The BMW X1 was placed on the BMW 3-Series E90 platform, which means that this model also has rear-wheel drive. The X1 is BMW's smallest compact crossover and is often described as a cross between a passenger car and an SUV due to its small dimensions. The model was an immediate success, by the way. Even before the second generation came onto the market, the counter hit 800,000 sales.

The second generation from 2015

The second generation of the BMW X1 contained a surprise for seasoned BMW fanatics. This generation (code F48) was in fact front-wheel drive and built on the UKL2 platform. In China, this generation was also offered as a hybrid with both long and short wheelbase.

Was the BMW X1 a success?

BMW X1 had to save the Germans and it succeeded. The first generation sold more than 800,000 units worldwide, and the total production number now stands at around 2 million. In the Netherlands, too, the X1 has sold more than 17,000, putting it in the top list for this car brand.

That's not surprising, especially when a popular YouTube channel lists the BMW X1 with the Audi Q3 and Volvo XC40 (and leaves out the Mercedes GLE because it didn't reach the bar).

When should the windscreen of the BMW X1 be replaced?

A damaged windscreen is annoying, but in far from all cases it is necessary to replace it. Your BMW X1 will only be disapproved for the MOT if the windscreen damage is in the driver's field of vision and it involves a chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres or a branched crack. This makes driving unsafe, because incoming light can be reflected in an unpredictable way and because glass damage in the field of vision is a distraction while driving.

In case of glass damage outside the driver's field of vision or smaller damages you can just keep on driving. However, it is wise to keep an eye on the damaged window as it may crack further. This is especially true when there are large temperature differences inside and outside the car. For example when you drive with the heating on on a cold winter day.

How much does a new windscreen for the BMW X1 cost?

A new windscreen for the BMW X1 is available from € 299. This price is for a new windscreen without delivery or fitting. In the overview, simply select the windscreen that is suitable for your BMW X1.

Then you choose whether you want to order delivery and/or fitting as well. As the price shown is adjusted immediately, you can always see the exact total price without leaving or refreshing the page.

Have you already asked your dealer about the prices of new BMW windscreens? Then you will immediately see that the price difference between brand-name and after-market windscreens for the BMW X1 is considerable. This is exclusively due to the brand logo that is used in BMW windscreens. This logo makes the glass exclusive, which comes with a higher price. Our BMW X1 windscreens do not carry the brand logo (this does nothing for the glass), but they are made in the same factories as the ones at your dealer. Therefore, you can always count on us for the best price-quality ratio.

In addition, our certified fitting partners will replace your windscreen on-site in the Netherlands or Belgium, without you having to worry about a thing. You just go to work, park the car in the car park and when you drive home, you will again have a clear view through the windscreen.

Can I replace the BMW X1 windscreen myself?

No. If you do not know how to replace the windscreen of your BMW X1 yourself, we strongly advise you not to consider the option. Replacing windscreens is a job for specialists, who know what to look out for to ensure that the windscreen is properly secured and sealed.

If you are a garage owner or have a lot of experience in windscreen replacement for cars, you can of course order the windscreens from us without fitting.
