Cheap windscreen replacement for your BMW 7-Series

The BMW 7-Series is one of the flagships of BMW. It has always been a model that was ahead of the market, using new technologies first and has always been one of the top models with a high entry price. Do you own a BMW 7-Series and do you need to replace the windscreen of your BMW? With us, you can find new BMW 7-Series windscreens from € 349.

Before we go into detail about this particularly low new price for BMW windscreens, we first give the BMW 7-Series the space it fully deserves.

The first generation (E23) in 1977

The first generation of the BMW 7-Series was produced from 1977 to 1987. It was the replacement for BMW's E3 Sedan and came as a 4-door sedan with a six-cylinder. Six years after its introduction, a turbocharger was added to the engine range. The BMW 7-Series was a pioneer in many ways. For example, it was the first BMW to feature numerous technological gadgets, such as climate control and warning lights on the dashboard in case of problems or when it was time for a service.

The second generation was produced from 1986 to 1994 and bears the E32 type number. Initially, this model came with a V12 engine or six-cylinder in-line. Six years after its introduction, the model was also equipped with a V8 engine. Once again, brand new features were introduced to the car, including xenon headlights, anti-spin and a dual climate control system.

Between 1994 and 2001, it was the third generation's turn to take the flagship honours. Once again, BMW astonished the competition. This model was the first European car to feature satellite navigation and even a built-in television.

The fourth, fifth and sixth generation of the BMW 7-Series

From 2001 to 2008, the fourth generation of the BMW 7-Series rolled out of the factories. With night vision and the electronic smart key, this model also captured the interest of many car enthusiasts. The same can be said of the fifth generation (2008-2015), the first model to feature the ActiveHybrid7 system, a hybrid powertrain.

In 2015, the sixth generation of the BMW 7-Series was presented. It came with a short (G11) and long (G12L) wheelbase and was immediately put on the new modular OKL platform (luxury car platform). This means, among other things, that many chassis parts are made of polymer reinforced with carbon fibre. Both versions of the sixth generation BMW 7-Series are also available as a hybrid.

Is the BMW 7-Series a success?

The BMW 7-Series is not a car for the masses. The German carmaker created this flagship to showcase new technologies and demonstrate what it is capable of. Yet despite its high entry-level price, this model has found eager buyers in Europe, the United States and China. At the time of writing, almost 2 million units have been made in Dingolfing. The question is, however, whether this is what BMW was aiming for. Ilka Horstmeier, director of the BMW department in Dingolfing, says about the BMW 7-Series on the BMW website: 'The BMW 7-Series has defined our identity at this site for over 40 years.

When should the windscreen of the BMW 7-Series be replaced?

Windscreen damage is very annoying, but it is by no means a reason to panic. In fact, in most cases you can just keep on driving with a damaged windscreen (although this will of course affect the luxurious look of your BMW 7-Series). In two cases the windscreen has to be replaced because the car with the glass damage will not pass the MOT test. Windscreen damage in the driver's field of vision is caused by a branched crack or a chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres. This causes dangerous situations because the damage distracts while driving and incoming light is reflected in an unpredictable way.

In all other cases, the windscreen does not need to be replaced or repaired immediately. However, it is wise to keep an eye on the damage. A damaged windscreen can continue to crack.

Our BMW 7-Series windscreens are considerably cheaper than those at your BMW dealer. This is because the dealer only sells automotive glass with a brand logo, which gives the glass an exclusive character. Since the logo does nothing for the windscreen itself, we only offer after market car windows without a logo. The quality is identical by the way; our car windows are made in the same factory as the BMW windscreens.
