Car window replacement in Utrecht

Utrecht is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands. The city has always played an important role, although not everyone knows that it was even the capital of Holland. Nowadays, Utrecht is mainly known as a huge junction of motorways and railways, the city of Dom, a student city and a city where canals provide beautiful views, along with the many visitors and tourists that come here every year.

What should you not miss when you go to Utrecht and where can you go when you need a car window replacement in Utrecht, at one of the many P+R sites, one of the stations or perhaps at the car park of your work?

Utrecht; one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands

Maastricht, Nijmegen and Utrecht are the oldest cities in the Netherlands. In all three cities this has to do with the Romans, in this case the Limes settlement. In Utrecht, this led to the construction of a small church, which would soon be followed by the construction of more churches. Utrecht would thus become the centre of the Christianisation of the Netherlands. Utrecht's status only really became significant in the 13th and 14th centuries. This had nothing to do with religion, but rather with its location on the Rhine. The city became a trading centre which would become important for many cities in the Netherlands. In this period, Utrecht was largely governed by the guilds, which had managed to gain a prominent (political) position in this city.

As the power within the Netherlands shifted to the west fairly quickly, the political role of the Sticht diminished. Utrecht would, however, remain very important in several areas. For instance, Utrecht University was a leading university for a long time and the Utrecht School (several particularly important painters) was internationally known.

Second World War in Utrecht and the role of the Maliebaan

Utrecht had to endure a lot during the Second World War. It was the 'City of Movement' with the NSB headquarters on the Maliebaan, and on the other side of the same Maliebaan the Resistance devised plans to make life as difficult as possible for the Germans and collaborators. If you want to know more about this, we would like to refer you to the Utrecht Archive.

What can you see and do in Utrecht?

In Utrecht you will find many historic buildings that are reasonably to well preserved. Since the city expanded considerably after the Second World War, you will of course also come across new buildings where the space had to be used as functionally as possible. Given Utrecht's extremely religious history, it is not surprising that you will find numerous churches in the city, including the Pieterskerk, the Janskerk, the Dom and the Jacobikerk. The list is much longer, but when you just walk through Utrecht, you can see most of them from far away.

In Utrecht you will also find many guesthouses. These were founded (mainly by guilds) for people who were in need of help. Some of the guesthouses, like the Leeuwenbergh Gasthuis and the Sint Eloyen Gasthuis are still in good condition, with facades that are hundreds of years old. Hoog Catharijne is also worth a visit for its architecture. Whether you are brave enough to go inside, we leave to you.

You can also shop at the various markets, which are mainly held on Saturdays. If you prefer to look at art or visit a museum, Utrecht also offers more than enough possibilities. How about the Central Museum, Museum Speelklok, the Railway Museum and Sterrenwacht Sonnenborgh. Of course, the list is much longer here too.

Is it wise to travel to Utrecht by car?

Utrecht is surrounded by motorways (A2, A12 and A27). You can easily reach Ring Utrecht by car, where the parking garages are indicated. You can try to get closer to the centre by car, but it is often very busy here and the prices per hour are considerably higher. More information about the different car parks and the prices per garage can be found on the parking map.

How do you go about replacing a car window in Utrecht?

If you are driving along one of the motorways around Utrecht and you get a stone against the windscreen, there is a good chance that the windscreen will crack. There is no need to panic; you can carry on driving. If it is a ramified crack or a crack with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres in the driver's field of vision, it requires a windscreen replacement. If your car has been broken into in the car park or you have suffered parking damage, the side or rear window usually needs to be replaced immediately.

That is still no reason to panic. With us, you can find competitively priced car windows for almost any car model. We only sell after market car windows. These do not carry a brand logo, unlike the automotive glass from your car dealer. The brand logo does nothing for your car window, except to drive up the price. So if you are looking for the best value for money, you have come to the right place.

Just like the greatest convenience, by the way. Our certified fitting partners replace car windows on-site anywhere in the Netherlands and Belgium. Irrespective of whether it is a car park in Utrecht, or whether the car window has to be replaced in Almere or Arnhem. Need a car window replacement in the heart of Amsterdam? No problem for us!
