Low-cost windscreen replacement for your Renault Mégane Scénic

The Renault Mégane Scénic has been a one-off model within Renault's Mégane line. Not because the model would float, but because the type would be separated from the Renault Mégane itself. Therefore, this model has not been in production for a long time (1996-2003), although it undoubtedly contributed to the sales success of the mother model, the Mégane itself.

Do you have a Renault Megane Scénic with damage in the windscreen? Then you may need a windscreen replacement. On the after market you already have a new windscreen for € 269 for the Mégane Scénic. Before we look at these windscreens, we will first take a closer look at the model that was given the model name of two Renault successes.

The Renault Megane Scénic

The Renault Mégane was launched in 1995 as the successor to the Renault 19. The model was slightly larger, but largely based on its predecessor. Three variants of the Mégane were introduced: the hatchback, a sedan and a coupé version. A year later the midi-MPV was launched, which was to be renamed the Renault Mégane Scénic.

The Renault Mégane Scénic would remain in production until 2003. In that year, by the way, the curtain didn't fall for the model itself. Renault decided to set up an independent line for the successful Scénic, which from then on would roll out the factories as the Renault Scénic. You can read more about this model on our Renault Scénic page.

When do you need to replace the windscreen of your Renault Megane Scénic?

Window damage is annoying. Especially when it's right in front of you as the driver in the windscreen. Yet not all windscreen damage is cause for panic. In only two cases the windscreen of your Renault Megane Scénic needs to be replaced. This concerns window damage in the driver's field of vision with:

  • A chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres
  • A branched crack

In these cases, according to the rules of the Dutch National Road Administration (RDW), you are not allowed to continue driving your car. The car will therefore be rejected at the MOT on the damage in the windscreen. Is it a single crack or a chip with a diameter of no more than 20 millimetres? Then you may continue to drive as normal. It is wise to keep an eye on the damage to the windscreen; the windscreen can tear further. This happens especially with large temperature differences, such as when driving with the heating on in winter, or the air conditioning in summer.

Can the windscreen of the Renault Mégane Scénic be replaced cheaply?

When we think of low costs, we quickly think of a second-hand one. Yet that thought is not so logical when it comes to automotive glass. A second-hand car window is in many cases more expensive than a new after market car window. If the used car window has a brand logo, the price is often higher than the price of our new windscreens.

This brand logo is also the reason for the high price of automotive glass at the dealer. Brand windscreens are simply more exclusive. However, the brand logo does nothing for the windscreen itself; it has no function whatsoever. Because after market windscreens do not have a brand logo, the price is much lower.

Can I replace the windscreen of my Renault Mégane Scénic myself?

Probably not. It is not recommended to carry out the car window replacement yourself, unless you are an automotive glass expert or a garage owner. The windscreen needs to be fitted with attention to every detail to prevent leakage and loosening of the windscreen.

Our certified fitting partners will be happy to take over the fitting from you. They install the new Renault Mégane Scénic windscreens on location throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. In your driveway, for example, or in the car park of your workplace. That way you don't have to worry about it and you can continue driving.

How much does a new Renault Megane Scénic windscreen cost?

You already have a new Renault Megane Scénic windscreen for € 269. This is exclusive fitting, delivery and a new windscreen moulding. If you opt for delivery and fitting within 7 days, plus a new windscreen moulding, the total price for the new windscreen is € 429. This is the full price; there are no extra costs involved.
