Cheap windscreen replacement for your Renault Master

The Renault Master is rightly called a special model. The Master has been sold in more than 50 countries, has more than 350 (!) versions and has been sold more than 2.5 million times worldwide. These are achievements of which Renault can be proud, especially since the Renault Trafic was placed on a similar market and showed similar successes.

Do you have windscreen damage in your Renault Master? Then in the worst case the windscreen needs to be replaced. This is certainly possible at attractive prices on the after market, even if this has to be arranged within two working days. Before we look at the benefits of after market windscreens for your Renault Master, we would like to take a look back at this success number from France. How did this model conquer the market?

The first generation of the Renault Master

The Renault Master is the direct successor to the Renault Estafette.
Already during the introduction it was clear that Renault would fully focus on the commercial vehicle market. The large van was shipped to dealers in the same year as the Renault Trafic, a smaller alternative in order to be able to directly offer a model for each company.

The Renault Masters of the first generation were fitted with a Fiat diesel engine as standard. Renault's own petrol engines were rarely fitted in the new models. In 1990, the 2445cc Fiat-Sofirm diesel engine was replaced by the 2499cc, again from Fiat. All models were produced in France (Batilly).

The second generation and numerous collaborations

In November 1997, the second generation of the Renault Master saw the light of day. Although this model was largely designed by Renault itself, there were many similarities with the Opel Movano and the Nissan Interstar. Thanks to the collaboration between Iveco and Renault, we also saw many of the design elements reflected in the third generation of the Iveco Daily.

The second generation of the Master was fitted with Renault S-type engines, G-type engines and the YD engines from Nissan. In 2003, this model was given a facelift, with particular attention being paid to the rear lights and dashboard, which significantly narrowed the design gap between the Renault Trafic and Renault Master. Nissan's 3.0 ZD3 engine was also added to the facelift. Another facelift followed in 2007, but only the grille was modified.

The Renault Mascott

In 1999 the Mascott was developed from the Renault Master, a type that was mainly designed to do the heavier work. If you want to know more about this type, read the article about the Renault Mascott which is entirely dedicated to this model.

The third generation of the Renault Master: designed with comfort in mind

In 2010, the third generation of the Renault Master came on the market (badge engineering
led to the Opel Movano and the Nissan NV400). The new Master has a new front and the interior has been modified. Chrome details, new upholstery and a driver's environment with a mobile office to provide optimum convenience for the driver while driving and working. The engines have been strengthened (2.3 dCi engines with more torque), plus two additional ADAS systems and a fully electric version: the Master Z.E..

Renault's objective is striking: the car manufacturer wanted to give the Master the comfort of a passenger car. For example, by using high-quality materials in the cabin, but also by paying more attention to the design of the cabin. Examples include a new dashboard, more storage space in the cabin, an integrated navigation system and a modern gearstick with chrome.

The success of the Renault Master

The Renault Master and Trafic have sold more than 4 million copies worldwide. The share for the Renault Master is high; more than 2.5 million copies rolled off the French production lines, making it without a doubt a success number for Renault. And the cooperation partners, because their models were also in great demand as workhorses in companies all over the world.

When should the windscreen of the Renault Master be replaced?

Windscreen damage is always annoying. When it comes to a company car, it is often even more annoying because it is much more on the road than an average passenger car. Windscreen damage is by no means always cause for panic. When should a car window be replaced? In only two cases: this concerns glass damage in the driver's field of vision:

  • A chip with a diameter greater than 20 millimetres
  • A branched crack

In all other cases, driving with a crack in the windscreen is simply allowed. However, it is wise to keep an eye on the windscreen damage; a damaged windscreen can tear further.

Can I replace the windscreen of my Renault Master myself?

If this is a question for you, the answer is no. Replacing windscreens is work for experienced specialists. When a windscreen is not fitted correctly, it can leak or come loose when braking abruptly. Do you need another car window replacement, such as a side window? If so, you can often do this yourself when you are technically equipped.

Are you a garage mechanic or do you have a lot of experience with windscreen replacement? If so, you can order all the automotive glass from us without fitting.

Replace the windscreen of your Renault Master inexpensively

You already have a new windscreen for the Renault Master for € 299. This windscreen is also suitable for the Opel Movano and the Nissan NV400, thanks to the badge-engineering. This is much cheaper than the price of the windscreens for the Master used by your Renault dealer and for one reason: a brand logo. The windscreens at your Renault dealer have a brand logo, which makes them exclusive. After market windscreens do not have a logo (partly because this does nothing for the windscreen). Because of this the prices are much lower. Furthermore, the windscreens are identical; they are made in the same factories.
