Cheap windscreen replacement for your Ford Kuga

The Ford Kuga is a fresh compact crossover that was primarily intended for the European market, but the Americans could not resist offering the Kuga as a Ford Escape (generation 3) in North America at a later date after all. The Kuga is a practical, handsome SUV in the C-segment and has become a reasonable success in the Dutch market. Do you have a Kuga and need to replace the windscreen because of windscreen damage in the car window? Then you will always find automotive glass with the best value for money with us. Before we surprise you with the competitive price of a new windscreen, let's take a look at the Ford Kuga which is still in production at the time of writing.

2008: the premiere of the Ford Kuga in the premium segment

The Ford Kuga first entered the market in 2008 and the model was built in Germany. For the UK market, only the most expensive versions were made available, the Zetec and Titanium. The new Kuga was built on the C1 platform,
from which we also know the Ford Focus.

Back in 2007, Ford looked at the possibilities of offering the model in North America, but decided not to do so because of the unfavourable exchange rate (euro to dollar). This would cause the margin on the models to be too small. In 2011, Ford nevertheless decided to withdraw the second generation Ford Escape from production in North America and replace it with a third generation in 2012 that was based on the Ford Kuga.

The hybrid Kuga, a milestone for Ford in Europe

In the US, Ford has had hybrid models on the market since 2004, but in Europe, the Ford Kuga hybrid was the pioneer for the US car brand. It was not until Ford had sold more than 100,000 hybrid models in the US that it was Europe's turn to see a plug-in car from Ford.

Second generation from 2012 to 2019

Besides the third generation of the Ford Escape, the second generation of the Ford Kuga also entered the European market in 2012. It was Ford's European division that had the most say in this. The second generation was immediately offered with four different EcoBoost petrol engines (from 148 to 239 hp) and Duratorq diesel engines (138 to 178 hp), including with powertrains for all four wheels.

Third generation from 2019

Then, in 2019, the third generation of the Ford Kuga entered the market, the generation still in production at the time of writing. This model was offered in America as the fourth generation of the Ford Escape and would also be offered in China as Escape instead of Kuga. The third generation included a plug-in hybrid with a 48-kilometre range, two turbocharged four-cylinders with eight gears and Android Auto built into the models.

The third generation was no longer built on the C1 platform, as it was swapped for the C2,
making the model considerably longer and wider.

Has the Ford Kuga become a sales success for the US brand?

With all the different languages in the diverse markets where car models are offered, it is important to do proper research into the meaning of a name. Ford went wrong on this when it marketed the Kuga in Croatia, Serbia and Croatia. Indeed, 'Kuga' here means 'plague' (the disease that killed more than 30% of Europe's population in the Middle Ages). In these markets, therefore, the Ford Kuga was obviously not a success.

In other markets, the Kuga scored just fine. Also in the Netherlands, as some 20,000 copies
have been sold here by now, which is not bad for a premium model that should mainly appeal to the more expensive market share. The Kuga is between the Ford Fusion (22,000) and Ford Focus C-Max (19,000) in the ranking for best-selling Ford models in the Netherlands.

Incidentally, Ford came up with a special advert for the Kuga back in 2008 (you can find it below this text). Ironically, Ford praised the Kuga because it was important to break with traditions and familiar designs, and start with a clean slate, with which the advert was especially critical of the carmaker itself, which had for years taken designs, parts and ideas from the predecessors of new models.

When should the windscreen of your Ford Kuga be replaced?

Windscreen damage is extremely annoying, especially because it is a bit of a shock when you hear a pebble tap against the windscreen. However, you do not always have to look for a new windscreen when your windscreen gets damaged. A chipped windscreen is only a reason for disapproval if it is a branched crack or chip with a diameter of at least 20 millimetres and the damage is within the driver's field of vision.

The importance of an unobstructed view of the road

Even if the windscreen damage is not a reason for rejection, you can choose to order a new windscreen. A clean windscreen without distracting damage ensures the best concentration while driving and makes the journey considerably more relaxing. Also keep in mind that windscreen damage can cause incoming light to reflect unpredictably and blind you while driving.

What does a new Ford Kuga windscreen cost?

You already have a new Ford Kuga windscreen for €399. When looking at the models in our range, please note the model year and the features you want, such as a heating or rain sensor. During the ordering process, you can specify whether you want the windscreen including fitting and when the windscreen needs to be replaced. The page immediately adjusts the price for each selection, so you always know what the total price is without leaving the page or having to refresh.

Can you replace the windscreen on your Ford Kuga yourself?

Replacing a car window yourself is often possible when it comes to a side window, but in the case of windscreen replacement, the story is different. Here, it is very important to work accurately to avoid damaging the new window and car. Proper fitting also ensures that the windscreen cannot come loose when you need to brake abruptly, for example.

To make things easier for you, we work with certified fitting partners. They replace windscreens on location throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. It does not matter whether your car is at the shopping centre, in your own driveway or at the office where you work; our partners will make sure that you can safely drive your Ford Kuga back onto the streets in no time.

Are you arranging for a new windscreen for your Ford Kuga today?

Our after market windscreens for your Ford Kuga are significantly cheaper than the windscreens offered by your Ford dealer. The quality of the automotive glass is identical, but because our windscreens do not feature a brand logo, they are not as exclusive and therefore not unnecessarily expensive. If you are looking for a new windscreen for your Ford Kuga and want to make sure you choose the best value for money, then our after market windscreens are the best option. You can even order these excluding fitting if you want to get started yourself or know someone who can replace the windscreen of your Ford Kuga.
